ashley, lazy boy, local high end furniture store, and IKEA.
IKEA by far my favorite at least for the style we bought. Sized right for the small room. Durable enough for Thing 1 and Thing 2. And the covers are completely removeable and machine washable. Plus they were dirt cheap.
Most IKEA stuff is crap IMO but I was impressed with the couches. Link - ( New Window )
I would definitely take a look at Bob's. I don't like any of their fabric couches, though. I don't know how many Bassett stores are still around (they moved most of their retail online), but there is one on Rt 17 in Paramus. I really like their furniture, but they are a little more expensive.
but the Bloomingdales furniture outlet in Westchester served me very well. Unlike clothing store outlets, which have specially made (often inferior) products, I think they were just selling stuff that the main store was moving on from, I think.
Also, I didnt shop there for a couch, but Costco sells them and I generally trust that store.
I recently purchased a 2-piece sectional sofa (as well as a few other smaller items) for my new apartment and have been very happy with their products. Good quality and won't break the bank.
