I was watching highlights of Oklahoma RB Samaje Perine and as 2nd take, ho-hum. But I found myself instead intrigued by a couple other Sooner players, a WR and the QB. The WR is a story in himself, Dede Westbrook, a hyper-talented splinter at 6'1", 175 with the unfortunate aspects of being skinny, having medical red flags (Like he might die!) and has been arrested 3 times for beating on his lady. I don't think the Giants need a WR with these characteristics, irrespective of talent, even though CBS Draft Scout has him ranked as the 5th best WR in the draft.
The QB Mayfield isn't in this draft and will be returning for another year at Oklahoma. And while I'd ordinarily find a 6'1", 212 a little too small, this QB has some special stuff. You want a quick comparison? OK, Drew Brees. Except that this kid may be a little more athletic. Strong arm, accurate, extends the play, quick release.
He had a nice season: 3965 yds, 71%, 40 td's, 8 interceptions. And 2017 may be better.

Do you think he needs a little more enthusiasm?

got any others?
Next year may be a spectacular QB class, with some real top notch players at that position. Baker Mayfield is going to be down on that list.
Compare him to the playoff QBs this year:
Manning
Rogers
Wilson
Stafford
Smith
Prescott
Ryan
Brady
Roethlisberger
Tannehill/Moore
Osweiler
Carr/Cook
....I just don't see how Mayfield is even in the conversation with this group, save Osweiler.
Is he as poor a "rag arm" as Philip Rivers was coming out of school? ;-)
Taking his game as a totality, I see one of the more impressive college QB's I've watched. No way to tell if he'll succeed in the NFL, but intangibles are VERY important, particularly to the QB position.
Could he fail in the NFL? Sure! Any draftee can be misused. But if a team is well coached, he'll be put in a position that optimizes what he CAN do. And he does that very well.
Mayfield, to me, is a little bit like Mark Sanchez, he can ball a bit, he's good at getting out of the pocket, but the arm strength to make the tough throws are lacking.
I just think if teams thought much of him, he'd be making himself elligible for the draft, especially given his age and experience.

Agree this years class of QBs is so poor that if he was well thought of, he would have left and been one of the top QBs available. Something doesn't pass the smell test.

If you believed BBI when Rivers got drafted, he couldn't throw the ball more than 20 yards. Literally, there were comments like that!
I've gone back and re-watched the video of Mayfield's TD's last season and what I see is a QB who can throw put the ball in the air for 50 yards with great touch and accuracy, or throw it on a rope for more than 30 yards with the same accuracy. And I'm not making this up. Watch the video.
I concede that there are likely NFL QB's with stronger arms, but to suggest that he has a weak arm just isn't factual.
But I'd be happy to have him on our team as a mid to later round pick.
Next year, there could be a whole bunch of 1st and 2nd round QB's in the draft, it looks like it's going to be a really great class. Both USC's and UCLA's QB's could be #1 and #2 respectively. Aubern, Louisville and Florida St.'s QB's are all up there, and then you have 2 seniors Luke Faulk and Mason Rudolph who are up there as well (also wondering what's going to happen with Jake Browning).
It's a long list, and I don't think Mayfield will be at the top of it.
