A lot of chatter these last few days. Players are starting to report to camp. Severino is throwing a side session today I think. Mateo is taking grounders at 3B, among other spots. There is video of Judge BP without a leg kick, part of his effort to really cut down on the K's.
Cashman was on with Mike Francessa yesterday. Among the many things he talked about, he said Kaprielian has a shot to make the majors this year if healthy. Also said Andujar should be at SWB. That sort of aggressiveness suggests they really may view him as the 3B of the future rather than just a lotto ticket.
Also questions about what Carter's signing will mean. Austin could end up in AAA, he could fight for a chance to platoon in right with Hicks and/or Judge, Bird could go down to reset his service clock, we will see. Also even a single injury could render all of that moot.

It will be interesting to see who steps up in Spring training as there's always a surprise or two. My gut feeling is that Chance Adams will have such a good Spring that he'll snag a starting role when the season begins. That means nothing. Just my personal hunch.
I like Didi but Torres is the future.
Yes, but I wouldn't expect a big return. Carter almost ended up in Japan. Now, if he is able to establish value with the power we know he has, maybe they can get a decent prospect back at best. My guess is that it's more likely Carter spends the year in this platoon situation, and depending on how the season goes, he would get DFA'ed before anything. This was a no lose, minimal risk, decent reward signing by the Yankees.

Oh, I don't know. Todd Frazier (30yrs old, .225/40HR/98RBI) got 12 million a year from the White Sox.
Compare with Christ Carter (30yrs old, .222/41/94)
When trade deadline near the end date and a team is lacking one piece (a RH slugger), there could be some trade value...especially if he's had a solid first half of the season. Hard to know how things will shake out in mid season. Either way, it's a bargain price for a guy who can come off the bench and occasionally break a game wide open.

Looks like Yancarlos Baez is going to be on the mound this season. #Yankees #MiLB
Baez was a defense-first SS who topped out at .235 in the GCL and hit less than his weight last year. Will be interesting to see what he can do.
yeah ... even some guys in the 30s look like they are real prospects. RAB is doing some good profiles of these guys.
