The Reds will receive 27-year-old LHP Andrew McKirahan and 29-year-old RHP Carlos Portuondo in exchange for Phillips. Cincy is also paying most of the 14 million that Phillips is due this year. Cincy made the move to allow either Jose Peraza or Dilson Herrera to start at 2B. This is a very solid acquisition for the Braves as they can now start #2 prospect Ozzie Albies in AAA to prevent burning a year of control.

Good point especially as they could have used that money on a veteran starting pitcher and bullpen help. This way Gsellman could begin the year in AAA providing much needed depth for the inevitable injury to one of their starters.
