NFT: Premier League roundup

Despite the draw at Burnley, Chelsea remains well ahead and look on course for the title. Man City could go to 2nd (8 points adrift) with a win at Bournemouth tomorrow.

The logjam behind Chelsea involves 5 teams 2 points apart (Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd), with Spurs and Arsenal at 50, Liverpool at 49, and City/Utd at 48.

Leicester City lost again, this time at Swansea, 2-0. They haven't scored in 6 matches and are only 1 point above relegation

a mid season swoon, my Everton Toffees are 5W-3D in their last eight matches. Solid seventh, but eight behind fifth place MC. Only one point separates second place Tottenham and MC. Don't think anyone is catching Chelsea.

Arsenal on Wednesday, at Bayern. they looked vulnerable against Hull yesterday.
Leicester is not going to make it

An almost unbelievable 12-18 months for that team. From champions to relegation. But they're not going to make it in my opinion. They're going to get relegated. Man City is going to emerge as the best chance to catch Chelsea in my opinion. Though they won't catch them. I expect Liverpool to turn it on again now that Mane is back and they can rest. Klopp hasn't adjusted to the English December/January system yet and two years running now has run his team into the ground. They cover more distance than any other PL squad and are exhausted. He probably needs to bring in more depth to use a rotated squad more than he does.

Injuries have doomed Spurs. They won't make a title push because of it. Man United is good and Mourinho has found the balance. Took too long to make a title push, though I wouldn't be shocked if they finished top 4 and won the FA Cup and made a deep run in the Europa League. Next year Man United should be serious challengers for the title in my opinion.

Not really an overly compelling season this year to be honest. Interesting race for the bottom and for spots 2-4 though.

Agree on Leicester and Spurs

Liverpool should make top 4 but need more depth to truly challenge for the title, especially with Klopp's high energy system.

Man Utd will challenge next year if they get Griezmann and keep De Gea from going to Real

Klopp looks like a U-Boat captain?
Man United still needs pieces but it's improving each game

Don't know if they can win a league with those 4 CBs, Daley Blind at LB and Bailly leaving all the time for African Cup of Nations. But at least there's a shape and a direction. Some consistent finishing and they'll make the top 4.

Palace escapes..
Sunderland's been playing better under Moyes the past 2 months, they may make it.

Right now, i'd wager that LCFC, Palace and Sunderland get relegated.

Palace needs to win at home against Middlesbrough to gain traction. They and Leicester need the break to regroup.

As an Everton fan, i'd say that Koeman has righted the ship. He's been pretty tactful in his response to Martinez' sniping, considering the disastrous shape the squad was in last May. It is sad to see Stones playing so poorly for City though.
I'm a Palace fan.

haha - great goal!

The only match that fit into my schedule today was Freiburg-Koln, and while it wasn't a bad match you kept waiting for some magic that just didn't happen. Two good, workmanlike teams, but that's all. I guess that's the middle of the Bundesliga for you.

As a Southampton fan I was sad to see Koeman go. He's much better than Puel.

Sounds like Everton has tremendous potential at a bright future. You see already Davies and Lookman, 18 and 19 years old each. I was reading the other day many think that not only is Everton's youth squad the best, but they actually have 3 or 4 players that some consider the best Everton prospects ever. Not just in the last 5 or 10 years, but ever. If this turns out accurate Koeman is the right man to cultivate all of it.
