I used to watch but it became to political for my liking. When The Police opened the Grammys 7 years ago or so it gave me chills..The Beach Boys 2 years ago was cool, too.
Beyonce' is probably the most overrated person walking God's green earth.
What the fuck was that shit? Does she think she's the Virgin Mary?
The more pop culture tries to shove someone down my throat as the Greatest Thing Ever, the more I don't care.
I could give a flying F about Beyonce or her personal life or music or baby
They really don't know the lyrics to Sweet Caroline? Â
Did a great story on Bruno Mars and his childhood in Hawaii playing Little Elvis in his family's band at the Waikiki Sheraton. He spent some time basically homeless, living in a car, a park, etc. pretty amazing. And he seems like a really good guy.
When you achieve her level of fame and status, it quickly becomes shameless self promotion. She could take a dump on stage and they would call it art and incredible. What I kind of take issue to is using a sacred thing like pregnancy and selling it to the masses. But then again that is their role in the entertainment division of industry.
Uh oh. I sense we have a rap fan here trying to make haters out of those that aren't slobbering over the Grammys! Quite a reach, mind you, though not surprising. I guess if you think Beyoncé is overrated, you hate rap and everything it stands for. Not sure what one has to do with the other, except if sjnyfan is underhandedly implying BBI is a bunch of rap hating old white guys, which I'm guessing is his insinuation. Quite a leap there, mr sensitive.

I have no problem saying I think rap sucks. With some exceptions, I just see no talent and think it's the worst form of music ever. If that makes me a bad person, so be it.
That's the beauty of music. It's a personal thing.
is incredibly talented. That being said, I stopped caring for her after she went on 60 Minutes and proclaimed she "never asked to be famous" and didn't like it, etc. That whole act is a bit tiresome.
is great, but when do you run the risk of just over saturating everything and trying to be every type of artist. I like her for her originality but it's starting to feel like she's trying to be too original...if that makes sense?
that they couldn't find any male singers who could come close to Barry Gibb's voice to sing his tribute. Pretty lame that Timberlake baled on him since his most memorable SNL sketch is doing a Bee Gee parody
I saw him two years ago at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ, and now he's performing at the Grammys. Good for him. One of the most genuine musicians involved with this show.
Is shit compared to the 1987-mid 90's era when there were so many talented lyricists and storytellers. Now most of it is over produced, vacant, culturally insignificant nonsense.

Lol, I didn't think anyone would take the bait but thank you for the laugh BigBlueShock. FWIW I hate the Grammys. I'm only watching because I made a deal with my wife who watched the Knicks this afternoon. I think it is a poor representation of good music, rather a ratings grab for CBS or whomever is airing it and the only way to do that is promote who is best known. It's not that I hate Beyonce or even her album but she's been around for twenty years now and people still do the same thing. Hating on her is futile at this point. First time I heard Beyonce was with Destiny's Child on the Men in Black soundtrack (you can hate me for that) and she's still making hit records. She's well respected as a singer, entertainer and her fans, which include other well respected artists like Adele, love her. I don't know why people continue to put forth the effort to hate her. As for the rap category, it's also shit. As an old school fan for the most part I hate it. But anyone who hates the art form I beg you to drop an album this year and make it a hit. With that said, I only mentioned that because it was the next award up when I made the post.

But you damn well better enjoy A Tribe Called Quest on stage now lol
. Gaga is talented but that was dumb. mic not working and all...imagine..some imbecile probably thought she was the lead performer and they were the house band...lol

This. I sort of dig the old school rap but it went bottom of the barrel lowest common denominator since.

Of course I do. But it's not the same without Fife.

That didn't even sound like music to me. So awful. But again, music is a personal thing.

Unless I want to hear the same 7 songs ad nauseam. Stay away from the radio, and you can find those hip hop gems.
Good to see ATCQ perform at the Grams. I hate Target for even more using that half assed "it takes two" remake. If I see another shot of J and Bey... Actually Bey is alright.
Is the almost obligatory rap interlude. Ariana Grande, for instances, might be singing a perfectly good bubble gum pop song and then out of nowhere comes the rapper du jour with some lame rap. "Gonna love you Grande style, drop it on you baby girl like a du du pile. I'm the baddest G with a mic within a mile."
it does, I just wanted to shit on the big winner sick of her crying act every time she wins. But then again she barely older than OBJ so still not quite adult by BBI standards.

I like a lot of rap today. But I agree with this. Albums like John Legend's album before this newest one had a rap solo that didn't really vibe with the whole thing. It shouldn't insinuate itself. It should be organic. Who do I think I to judge that maybe, but I think the point stands.
is that I get a chance to make believe I am one of the cast of Mystery Science Theater when I watch. I rip the lame ass pop stars to shreds, and laugh my ass off while I do it. They are all ridiculous to me. Then when the show is over, and all the ridiculous pop stars, and music industry execs, go off to party, I go to bed. Early tomorrow when they get back to their palatial estates, I'll be on my way into work, but they will know that I think they are ridiculous, and they will feel shame. yup, true story.

right about today's pop music despite your or my political leanings. As an aside, I have never gone on infowars but was sent that as a link and thought it was spot on as they say.
However, I was glad to hear that Chance the Rapper and Sturgill Simpson both got some love. They are each very different from the other, but what they share in common is that they are genuine artists, not overproduced background music.
is the one award show worth watching because of all the performances. Who wins the awards and the speeches they give are secondary to me. I watch it on DVR and focus more on the performances.
It's a show celebrating music and packs itself with wall to wall performances that run the gamut of genres. There were some great, great performances last night and other enjoyable, interesting ones.
Adele, Bruno Mars (both performing his own song AND paying tribute to Prince), Chance the Rapper, Sturgill Simpson, Gary Clark Jr with William Bell, The Weeknd with Daft Punk, along with interesting mash-ups like Lady Gaga with Metallica, A Tribe Called Quest with Anderson Paak, Maren Morris and Alicia Keys, and a nice rendition of "God Only Knows" by John Legend and a Broadway star I'm unfamiliar with.
Ed Sheerhan was awesome.

let me know how Gaga/Metallica is.
oh man hahaha

On the other hand...Bruno Mars sounds great as usual.
ha!

Bruno Mars has got to be the most confident 5'4 guy there's been since Napoleon
ha!
Well..it was Megadeth covering Metallica....but still!

Saw him two summers ago at the Foo Fighters birthday party in DC. Then Again here in Rochester last summer. He's just amazing. A very talented man.
To her she messed up. She missed a note and some words. So she started over. I couldn't even tell. She so good.
also this is fucking weird.

I guess if classical music can make kids smarter, then today's pop music is certainly making kids dumber.

Safe to say someone who visits Infowars should not be calling out others for being made dumber (by anything). That site is Fox on steroids.
I agree and I heard that Gaga grew up listening to Metallica. She went all out for the performance. Wish Hetfield's mic would have worked though.
