The greatest ever, no. You forget the Packers in the 60's and the Steelers winning as they did in the 70's. They are great, but not the greatest
The fact that the Patriots have done in the era of free agency and for well over a decade makes it extra special. Also, there are 32 teams in the league now, there was half that in the 60's.
Had my Giants hat on. As we're getting out of the car, the guy in the car next to us gets out and says to me 'How about them Patriots'. So I answer good thing they didn't play the Giants. His answer was 'How many rings do you have'. I answered 2 that you don't have. Before he could say anything else . I said Hey jerk you started this and walked away.
I won a few bucks on the game. And I'm not taking anything away from them but I didn't even know the guy!
I always rooted for the Patriots especially when they played the Jets! Not so much any more!
So being proud of your team that just won the Super Bowl

With a correspondingly greater concentration of talent per team, you know.
from NJ, specifically CT, less than 2 hours out from Boston. I couldn't and still cant believe how this NE fanbase is the biggest group of babies I have ever seen in my life. I actually still like the Pats but just because I love BB and like Brady as well. But to put it simply, fuck Pats fans.
No losses are the teams fault. and the bitterness over the Giants is sad. They can hate us, I get it, but its childish. They still wont admit the Edelman catch whipes the Tyree catch clean when it comes to bitching - but you can shut them up anyway by bringing up the gifts that were the following;
Bledsoe's injury.
The Tuck rule.
John Kasay kicking the ball out of bounds in XXXVIII.
they're faces turn beat red.
and then you bury them with XLII and XLVI...and then they proceed to shut up and not talk to you. :)
I'm in NoVa, and I was here during the Skins' glory years, which the maroon-and-black faithful STILL won't shut up about. It's bad when you have to listen to these clowns, and worse yet when they're right
Oh, and I deal with big mouth Pats fans with one sentence:
it's another to not be able to name any Patriot's quarterbacks before Drew Bledsoe in 1996 and still claim that you're anything more than a once-casual, now bandwagon-jumping fake fan of a team with multiple instances of cheating and circumventing the rules.
Most of my in laws and several of my friends are big Pats fans. Ask them who they liked 25 years ago and it was probably the NYG.
I have to say when we beat them twice they were congratulatory towards me. They weren't jerks. However when I go to the stadium up there for a rare game and wear my Giants hat, they hammer me.
All fan bases are the same.....when victorious, they revel in it.....and the Pats have been the dominant team of this millennium, thus far.....they act no different from any other fan base, in the same situation.....
My BIL is married to a Pats fan. He grew up in Jersey as a casual....
Giants fan. He tried trolling me after the SB with a bunch of stuff about how great the Pats are and a ton of stats to back up his bragging. I wouldn't bite. I just asked him what baseball team his wife told him to root for. That kind of ended his crap with me.
They passed Obnoxious after 49, now have passed delusionally hideous...and that's on a good day
The Falcons drug them through horse dung and beat the crap out of their 39 year old QB, (for a while) ...
Then the Pats reared up and kicked ass, great victory.
Not as big as the baseball Cubs coming back (after 108 years of frustration) ! But ....
I'd be delirious too, if the Giants had come off the mat, like they did

Got it.

Pats are better then the 70s steelers.
There's no way the current Pats beat those Steeler Defenses...no way.

In your face, sore winners. It doesn't strike me at all as them 'reveling' in it. It's really aggressive and confrontational. Where is the joy?

Congratulate them, offer top buy them a beer tell them and say - "See you in Minny, next February, love playing you guys !"
