Actually, through their haughty condescension and doctrinal absolutism they did the right's job for them.
While no doubt contributors to the demise of their own ideas (although not their wallets, which obviously benefit from GOP policies) the decrying of supposed "elitism" has been a hallmark of the right wing playbook for years.
Endless shouting of the likes of "limousine liberal" and "big city bubble" and "the real America" duly drowns out their incessant whispers of "keep cutting that capital gains tax....they're paying attention to Clooney and Streep...just keep cutting it."
Actually, I think "flyover country" and "clinging to their guns and religion" (even if they owned no guns) was even more effective. Add to that the nationwide middle to upper middle class exclamation beginning around 23 years ago of "what the hell is AMT?" when the minimum AMT rate got jacked up by the '93 tax bill.
and she works very hard at her craft. I don't particularly care for her music and I agree that this deification of her is over the top and silly, but you don't have to run her down to make your point.

This might surprise you, but, it's Beyonce's singing as a solo artist and member of Destiny's Child that has made her both fortunate and relevant. And I say this as someone who could not be less of a fan of her music or style.

I guess she is talented. But, let's not overstate just how talented she is. She doesn't write her music or lyrics, but insists on writing credits for every album because that is where the money is. That's just one example.

Her last one was so self-serving and narcissistic, so why should this come as a surprise? When she gave birth the first time around she bought out the maternity ward at Lennox Hill in Manhattan, although the hospital denied it was "bought out". Parents with infants in NICU were barred from seeing their children while Beyonce was in the hospital and no visitors were allowed in the ward. It was disgusting. I thank G-d all the time that my daughter was born a couple of weeks later, because I would have ended up in jail had they tried to bar me from being in the hospital with my wife and newborn.
Of course, after the fact they said the money went to build a private maternity suite, but that is BS. they have private rooms, but this was different. Luxury facilities the equivalent of something like half a floor. It was really disgraceful, but the worst was how she and her husband got a pass for the most part.
