For Ryan Ramczyk. He has us trading with the Titans for the 18th spot. I guess that'd mean our first and third.
Thoughts on the idea of giving up our third for the best LT prospect in the draft?
I know a lot of people here cherish our third rounders...
Mock Draft on NFL.com - (
New Window )
Reese has only ever traded up. He's never traded down. I doubt that trend changes this year.
Kiwi in 2006
Way too early at this point and if there's a bunch of talent still on the board Reese probably stays at 23.
Yes but he was first pick of 2nd round
It isn't the Giants style to leave a gaping hole that has to be filled in the draft.
For sure, the Giants will have a replacement selected before the draft - either a Free Agent or (unlikely) Pugh. Even a slightly better than average LT will be better than Flowers. Hell, Newhouse may be an improvement at LT.
If Reese still isn't convinced that he needs to replace Flowers, he will be putting his job on the line and all his accomplishments for the defense in 2016 will be forgotten by January 2018.
That's pretty much how I feel about it.
Reese has never traded down. I think the last time the Giants did so was when we dropped back to the bottom of the first in a trade with Pittsburgh to take Kiwi. And that was Accorsi.
Tennessee owes us for Conklin.
They all need tackle help.
Collins was in the 2nd. Think they mean 1st round.
a prospect on a high "row" falls past their rating (so the price has declined)
they don't like the prospects at that guy's position later on in the draft (so they can't figure on getting someone for need later)
they see an unusually large dropoff between the guy they can get with a trade-up and the guys who'll be left at their regular spot (so they don't think they'll get great value if they stay put).
Let Free agency happen please then I could see us trading up but not for this injured player.
Personally I don't believe they've given up on him playing LT for them down the line even if they realize he isn't ready yet. Which given Reese's stubborn refusal to honestly evaluate players in the past wouldn't surprise me in the least.
In the second round, and that's rare too.
