That was so frustrating, and puzzling. He could, at times, show really nice hands pulling in tough catches. But, man oh man, was that the exception rather than the rule
I don't know why he wasn't used exclusively in that role. Split him wide to one side and Beckham to the other, and you're going to have your choice of a one on one mismatch at the goal line.
For a team that has been terrible running the football I don't know why they didn't take advantage of Donnell more at the goal line.

Same here, find a strength and keep him in that strength, don't ask him to do things that he's proven he's not capable of doing (well or consistently).
and I agree Mad Mike, Donnell was one of the most frustrating Giants players.

the guy overcame or attempted to a severe neck injury which obviously impacted his play severely. I blame the Giants and Reese for investing so much in an undrafted TE who played the position for a few years. Frustrating to watch him but they monitored him in camp and knew the cards they were dealt.

He made plays, They came at a high cost, and I understand that good teams would move on without him.
But he made plays. And he made them from the TE position, which has been a huge need.
Anybody want to speculate what percent of the offenses decline in 2016 could be attributed to Larry's transition from asset to liability? I bet its alot more than is generally acknowledged.
How personal some of you guys take a poor performance by an athlete of the team you root for.
The OP here, BBI at it s worst.
Judging by the reactions on the Donnell threads, I'd say the people who are taking it personal are the ones defending Donnell. Are some of you related to him? Shit. All the OP did was post a GIF of what this particular player was basically known for throughout his career, his constant fuck ups. They outweighed anything positive he did. I think it's funny and he should be mocked for mistakes and aw, was someone a meanie on a message board to a pro football player making almost $2 million in one season to play a game? Yes, it was embarrassing Reese tried to bring him back, but the guy just was useless and stuck around too long. He was frustrating to watch. Be gone!
Also why are we all saying it wasn't his fault and this "he gave it his best" nonsense? A lot of his mistakes were idiotic decisions he'd make after the catch, as a ball carrier. It doesn't take the greatest coaching in the world to tell you not to hurdle players and flip your body purposely the way he did. He just did stupid stuff on his own without the common sense lol
This is hardly BBI at its worst. Look at those threads started last night. Cough cough.

Also agree.

I spent MONEY to fly down there, stay the weekend and take my nephew to see the Gmen live and Larry fucked it up.
That's because you suck.

Actually, I was down there too, and had a nice time; another of many ridiculous losses that year.
Jump and catch only
