Elway, the Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations/general manager, has said that team will be "involved in free agency." And to that end the Broncos were already working Monday to at least meet with wide receiver Victor Cruz.

I would be happy to see VC land with an AFC team

so that I can continue to root for him. Would love for it to be the Patriots, I think that BB would make good use of whatever he has left.

Ideal situation for Cruz
Big Rick in FL : 2/13/2017 6:09 pm : link
He better sign ASAP. He can play in the slot and most of the coverage would be going to Demaryius & Sanders. If the Broncos sign Romo & Cruz they could give the Pats a run for their money.

Absolutely. Romo and Cruz definitely would have made that 2011 divisional playoff game more competitive than Tebow and Eddie Royal did.
Benjamin Albright disputes this story about Cruz and the Broncos

Not sure where the Victor Cruz #Broncos stuff started but I was just told "we haven't even discussed that possibility, yet."

If so,

we might get to see him in Denver in '17.
.

He's a player that it will be weird seeing in a different uniform.
He played out of position last year
grizz299 : 2/14/2017 7:44 am : link
and maybe those injuries take a full year to get better.

STILL, he was in radical decline before the injuries. He dropped more balls than a top receiver should. He took a hit in Pitts and seemed shy afterwards. And the truth is his time of high production was not even a season long but limited to a few games.
When you take the amount of money he parlayed that superb but very limited production into.......
I'll wish him well wherever he goes
ron mexico : 2/14/2017 7:51 am : link
He deserves that.

But honestly I'm shocked he's getting looks this quickly.

Will explode if he returns to form as a slot WR with Denver.
Get the popcorn ready if it happens.

Huh? And Peyton isn't there anymore. Romo can't make it thru
the preseason now, and Cruz is a shell of what he was.

This is not true. He produced in all of 2011, pretty well in 2012, dipped slightly in 2013 (when teh whole offense dipped), then got hurt in 2014.

No need to shit on the guy on the way out.
He'd actually be playing
Big Rick in FL : 2/14/2017 12:25 pm : link
His real position with the Broncos. He wasn't good for us last year, but he was playing out of position. He was never really good as an outside WR. Even before the injuries. With the Broncos he wouldn't get a ton of attention. Most of the Defenses attention would go to Thomas & Sanders. If they signed Romo I think he could have around 750 yards & 5 TDs.

Romo isn't finished. The problem is him staying healthy, but if he can stay healthy he's still a good QB. IMO the Cowboys will be making a big mistake letting him go. Dak will come back down to Earth in his 2nd year just like RG3, Foles & Kaepernick did. He benefit tremendously from playing a very weak schedule.
Cruz production
giantfan2000 : 2/14/2017 1:05 pm : link
Sorry I am going to defend Cruz this year ..

1. He was coming off injury - I think the 2 years off showed up towards end of year when he did fade a bit .

2. Cruz 's stats are not so bad for 3rd WR they are actually similar to Sheppard
his yards and per catch yards are right up there just his number of catches is way down.

3. Even with Cruz's reduced role in the offense there were a number of times during the year were Cruz came up with the GAME WINNING Catch. Cruz has always been and continues to be a gamer .

Don't write Cruz off .. I think he will have a successful year next year for some team.
To be cut like that,
Doomster : 2/14/2017 1:45 pm : link
Methinks Cruz was not willing to take a drastic pay cut, like he did once already.....

He may feel, there is something left in the tank, and that he did play out of position....

I thought the Giants would offer him an incentive contract, and give him the opportunity to win a job in camp.....maybe that wasn't his plan....

I completely disagree with you. I think he would have taken a huge pay cut to stay with the team but the team just wanted to give the young guys a chance.

I think he will have a hard time landing on a roster anywhere
