The bout could be announced within the next two weeks and both fighters have agreed to the financial details for the fight, The Sun reported, citing a source close to McGregor.
doesn't really mean this will happen. McGregor is under contract from the UFC, and obviously they aren't going to just let him go from that. They will want a (big) piece of this. Lot of hurdles to clear for this to actually happen.

McGregor's plan has been: meet with NAC to clear issue, then TMT, then UFC. That's what's going on now. Early stages of that plan.

He laid out this exact plan when we spoke in Manchester. Go to Vegas to meet. Felt best to go in person. So now here we are.
This will never be able to live up to the hype imo
Yeah, he wouldn't even come close to Floyd. Conor sees this as a great opportunity to make a lot of money and build his brand even more. It's practically a win-win for him. If he loses to Floyd, all he has to do is point to the fact that he's an MMA fighter. He could even challenge Floyd to an MMA match and save face once Floyd declines it. Then he can go back to MMA and possibly be an even bigger draw because of all the attention he's gonna get from this fight.
it does matter though. While chances are even the top boxing MMA fighters won't connect, the gloves definitely matter. Boxers talk about how their spacing needed with their reach is built in to muscle memory with the size of those gloves. That changes with four ounce gloves. Not to mention that if someone with a left hand like McGregor's is able to actually connect (very low percentage in this case), four ounce gloves gives every fighter a chance.
I still don't see this happening though and if it does it is pretty easy to predict it going the distance with McG getting boxed up but making fucking bank.
agreed. McGregor has already said he wants to get in, get rich, get out. Assuming he follows this plan we probably only have a few years to see him fight. This would be a better money grab than anything the UFC could set up for him.
Significant update on potential Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor super fight: Nevada State Athletic Commission chairman Anthony Marnell tells ESPN, "Real people are having real discussions. I'm also telling you my opinion as the NSAC chairman that a lot of things need to get done in order to see something like this come together because there are so many parties that want to get their hands on the pot. Maybe it will get figured out, but it's going to be hard when everyone is declaring they want $100 million."
Floyd 75 McGregor 25 should be the split.
FLoyd should offer to pay Mcgregor $100,000 per punch landed
His entire career is built on incredible movement. Actual boxers have a helluva a time connecting on their punches, you think an MMA brawler is going to do better?
I'm not like some here that think he won't land a single punch, but if a boxing match actually took place Conor will have very, very, veryveryvery few chances to land that left. And as I mentioned earlier, those boxing gloves will take a lot of his power away as well.
reports saying there is no deal between the fighters
Out of these guys are better business men than fighters.
Floyd's greater skill is not getting hit. Connor's is making sure he's a lot bigger than whomever he fights. As it's been pointed out. Conor wants to cash out and Floyd makes sure he cashes in.
The biggest waste of time in my entire life as a sports fan was Floyd Manny. Anyone who buys this sideshow is a fucking moron.
Floyd will evade. Connor can easily adjust his style because Floyd isn't interested in hitting him. Two guys dancing. For a 100 bucks or more? No thanks. Conor sho Or lean how to tie that brown belt he was given and didn't earn.
But that depends on McGregor going for broke and forcing Floyd to fight him. Other boxers are typically cautious fighting Floyd, and Floyd is basically a defensive fighter himself, so the fights are generally dull.
Floyd is already very rich. This will add significantly to that. Conor is probably somewhat rich at this point. This fight will make him enough money to, if invested wisely, set himself and whatever kids he has for the rest of their lives. This fight is a no-brainer for both of these guys.

If you only look at finances, sure. But unless specific terms are met, why would Floyd risk his perfect record unless its in a format he can 100% win on?
I have no idea what the actual match would look like, but I can't imagine Floyd would agree to anything that is specifically in his wheelhouse to play his game the way he wants.

Oh I agree 100% with that. That's why this is going to be a boxing match with standard gloves, etc. If it ever actually happens. I don't give Conor any chance at all in that format, but $25 Million dollars (that's what I have heard) is plenty for him to get banged around in a fight most people know he won't win. I won't even tarnish his MMA legacy at all IMO. No brainer.
A. He's not getting $25M for a fight with GSP
B. If GSP wrecked him, his legacy in UFC is shot. If Floyd wrecks him, no one expected him to win under the rules that he will be fighting under

Floyd isn't sharing his purse w the UFC. This is still a long shot.
He made over 10 mil vs Nate. GSP is one of the best of all time. Conor could care less about his legacy. He would take the money and the beating. No one w a clue about MMA would expect Conor to win Vs GSP either.

Like Pacquaio, it will be a horrid money grab and nothing more.
Anyone who would pay basically 100 dollars to see this needs their head examined.
Need a better source!
My question is this. Boxing gloves of 4-ounce gloves? Actually that's a dumb question. No way would Floyd take a fight unless it is straight boxing.

Don't think it really matters. Most boxers can't hit Floyd, no way in hell an MMA fighter is going to.

How will he land a punch let alone a power punch?
I don't see any way this fight (that will never happen) doesn't end up with the MMA fighter looking like a joke.
