I hope it brings that poor family some closure.

He would have been what? 44 this year?

Instead, Etan Patz is frozen in time as a six year old, forever.

I have a five and a half year old right now, and just the innocence... What kind of creature would do something like that? Hard to stomach.
I remember those posters *everywhere*.

I don't think I've ever seen the city blanketed with missing posters like that since, you couldn't walk down the street without seeing one. Terrible story, hope this brings his family at least some peace.
Britt, I'm a true crime junkie

Read a ton of true crime books, watch Investigation Discovery all the time, etc. However, ever since I had kids of my own, I cannot stomach any story involving horrible things being done to children. Just can't do it. This one is different since I've known about it for a long time, but I don't need to take in any new ones.
Same.

An unimaginably horrible nightmare.

My prayers and profound sympathy are with any parent who losses a child. But to have your child completely disappear without a trace must be the most unimaginable hell that any human could be forced to endure.

With disclaimer, I haven't closely followed this retrial but I remember from the first trial being very skeptical that Hernandez was the person who murdered Etan Patz. Eton's body has never been recovered and no physical evidence or eye witness testimony link Hernandez to the killing. I'm pretty sure the entire case was built on the Hernandez' testimony against himself. Hernandez has a very low IQ and a diagnosed paranoid mental disorder which in conjunction with the absence of physical evidence deadlocked one juror from the last trial.

I hope this brings some measure of peace to the parents and family of Eton Patz.

always around for our anniversary always caused a heavy heart, poor kid. I remember feeling so angry hearing this news. God bless the family who had to live with this for so long. May they get the closure they have sought for so long.

How can it when they have never found the kids body. Grew up in NYC during this and the Son of Sam these stories consumed the neighborhood.
I was 17 years old at the time

and got a good job with Sperry, I followed another heart breaking case of child murder. Sadly, this one was never solved. Happened in 1986. Anyone remember Chaim Weiss?
