FYI...
New York Giants Re-Sign DT Robert Thomas and TE Matt LaCosse - ( New Window )
Likely in a minority on this one

but I like Thomas;think he's better than Bromley.
I don't think we resign Hankins,

and Thomas could step in. Coaches must like him, they kept him on the roster through his mysterious illness.
Hankins

will get an offer, but somebody may well give him a better contract. Reese has shown no interest in keeping drafted DTs past their rookie contracts. We'll get another one in the draft, to go with Snacks, Thomas, and Bromley.

I agree. But, I also think Bromley is better as a 1 tech and Thomas is better as a 3 tech.
Only problem is,

When he let a DT go, he had already drafted his replacement and he was ready to go....not this time....
I'm expecting Hankins to get an offer

from the Giants but I think someone else will overpay him.
Robert Thomas

is a reasonable replacement for Hankins IMO. I was impressed with him.

He's more of a 3T.
Am I correct in assuming neither of these contracts

are even partially guaranteed?

His replacement is a man called Snacks

This. But also remember on 3rd and long, many times Snacks would come off the field and Hankins would be in, with Okwara playing DT.

I think a B level FA DT might be added.
Well,

anyone that thinks this defense will be as good with Thomas/Bromley in there, instead of Hankins, is crazy....so in that sense, Reese has not drafted his replacement, as he has done in the past...
I don't think Hankins is irreplaceable. He's a good-not-great player.

But swapping him out for a draft pick is just running in place. It's not an improvement, and you're just creating another need that has to be filled with a pick that could have gone to another position.
