I apologize for the dots that were used to prevent the table from collapsing, and I admit this is a narrow view of the Giants problems. The production at TE tanked in 2016 along with the entire offense. I'll save my comments for later. Is this correlation or causation? And was LD's decline a cause or effect?

Its in response to LD's farewell thread.

He was criticized quite a bit, mostly for fumbles and poor blocking. The fumbles are seen above. His impact on the running game could also be looked at, but it sucked either way so I didn't bother.

Playmaking at TE was non-existent last year, even though everyone's game plan was designed to stop OBJ....
i think that if you look at

TE production during the last ten years with Eli, it's virtually the same no matter who is playing TE. Boss, Bennett, Myers, Tye- doesn't matter. I think that's part of the reason why the FO doesn't feel the need to upgrade the position as much as the fans do...

Beating the Pats twice in SB 42, 46

And correcting Tiki's fumbling problem, which turned him into a borderline HOF (maybe tangential, but his numbers were unreal) candidate.

Larry Donnell worked his way into TC's doghouse. Deservedly. But nobody coached him out of it, so we lost the only playmaking ability we had at that position. And then the offense sucked. I believe this was a significant part of the problem.
Donnell sucks. Why do people continue with this?

He just isn't a good football player.
Larry Donnell can make a play in the passing game...or not
Torrag : 2/15/2017 9:48 am : link
...sadly he can also flip over on his head every week for no reason, miss just about every blocking assignment he was ever given, is afraid of contact, can forget down and distance and run out of bounds a foot short of the marker with no defender within 20 feet of him. The list goes on. He's a drive, coach and QB killer. He possesses anti-tangibles, the opposite of intangibles. To sum it up he's a bad football player.

Your assessment of Donnel is accurate. And I have to add this type of objective view of a player is much preferable to the ridicule and immaturity we had on the other thread in regard to this player.
Levitating Larry the Leaping Legend . . .

only had two problems; he wasn't a TE or an NFL football player.

PLEASE, Mr. Reese!!! No more big, athletic "finds" that aren't football players! For every diamond-in-the-rough you find, there are a too many t***s this club gets stuck with for years that the coaches try to make something out of that are only a tease.

Are we really going to blame the Giants' coaches for Donnell's non-development? Let's see if he actually does enough to even make another team's roster before we come to that conclusion.
OK so now

irs time for the Jernigan test. All these incompetent coaches-Coughlin, Gilbride Jr, whoever- held back Tumblin Dice's development so let's watch another coaching staff work with him until he lights it up. It never happened even one time in Coughlin's entire tenure that a player he gave up on went some place else and played better than he had as a Giant.

Donnell's limitations are limitless. Next topic.
Running out of bounds before getting that 1st down in the Ravens game

was one of the most boneheaded things I have seen by a NY Giant football player in the past 40 years.

Egregious decision that should have gotten him cut that very evening....

'People' were convinced that Dan Campbell and Greg Comella were going to return with a vengeance, and they didn't catch 3 tds on a nationally televised game. Enough said?
