Jets Turn Down Ryan Clady's option

giantsfan44ab : 2/15/2017 7:07 pm
It's being suggested he'll likely have to settle for prove-it deals. Maybe this year's Keenan Robinson?

Injury-prone players scare the shit out of me, but Clady was good when healthy (I believe).

Fire away.

Brandon Marshall 60% chance of being cut, so there's that too. Unless the Giants want to give up a conditional 7th to take him at his $7.5M number for next season and then he's off the books.
Maybe as a fallback plan

But he would not be my first choice, and IMHO there are better options

Oh yeah of course. I was talking more like a minimum, 8th or 9th guy (essentially what they did with Beatty last season).
Tons of tread

On those tires
Well, as damaged as he's been physically,
Big Blue '56 : 2/15/2017 7:25 pm : link
is there any number on a one year prove it deal that MIGHT make it worth it, assuming he checks out physically now?
Would anyone expect him to play

more than 6 games?
For those that would prefer Flowers at RG

instead of RT, I would think you would want to see them sign Clady on a prove it type deal. Also taking into account that the draft looks better for OGs than OTs (from what I've been reading). Point being if they moved Flowers to RG and there isn't a decent OT prospect in the draft (at least where the Giants are picking), they better take some shots at multiple OTs in FA.

6 of his 9 NFL seasons, he's played and started a full 16 games. Including 2014 when he made the pro bowl. He played 9 in 2016. He's coming off a surgically repaired ACL (2015) and a surgically repaired torn rotator cuff (2016).
I like Clady

and we are going to have to take a chance(s) on one or two players that can be had below market value that may turn into an asset. The window is shrinking.

Marshall, man, a veteran head case who drops too many passes cause he's thinking about where he's eating dinner that night instead of catching the ball.

Only upside I see to spending what he'll want is he'll keep OBJ off the backpage at least 3 days a week and may actually live up to his potential in a pennant chase. If he realizes his commentator career would be much better with a nice new Super Bowl ring to show off, I think he has top 10 WR potential. Got to get him to focus.
Not a chance

Might be alone but I would love Marshall, assuming SS can play the slot and we can get him at less than 7.5. I think he would be a great compliment to OBJ on the field and as a veteran mentor
We can get Jake longs left leg
Tuckrule : 2/15/2017 9:43 pm : link
And cladys right leg and create a very good left tackle
Clady

seems like a good guy but he missed half the season this past year, the entire season before that, and only played 2 games in 2013. No thanks on all accounts.
no thanks.
