Jaguars are not picking up LT Kelvin Beachum's option, sources say. So like Ryan Clady, he's headed to the free-agent market

Was awful with the Jags last year, but was really strong with the Steelers for a few years before that.
Interesting that TC and Co. don't want to keep their starting LT.

That's another team likely to draft an OT high.

Can add one B to his name and be perfectly named.

Or they are also buyers in FA with a shit ton of cap space.
We're looking for a good LT

Oh yeah, like who exactly? The only FA starter who would be a clear upgrade is 35 and they won't risk going into the draft without an upgrade at tackle.
May have to come to terms with the idea that offensive line
Ten Ton Hammer : 2/15/2017 8:22 pm : link
May not be solved this offseason. It's neither a great draft for them nor a great free agency year.
Comments from Jags' fans

with linked article.

Opinions mixed. They acknowledge that PFF killed Beachum in ratings but some fans didn't think he was all that bad. Also possibility mentioned of his being brought back on restructured deal.

You've been around the block, do you really believe Reese is going to give up on Flowers or is he throwing out a smoke screen to keep the heat off?

Unless they just found out Flowers has an incurable learning disability, I can imagine they don't continue to mold him and I really don't think LT is a concern for Reese at all.

Too many other spots to fill to admit he blew a 9th overall pick.

Spell check
Coughlin is in charge
Joey in VA : 2/15/2017 8:42 pm : link
In Jacksonville, he will build a huge OL and DL, run a 3-4 and find a home run hitter at RB and speed at WR. I'm 100% convinced that guys like Pugh and Richburg were NOT his types of OL. TC loves big football players and doesn't go gaga over athletic numbers for the guys up front, he wants mass.

I can only say that I pay attention when Reese speaks. He was still digging in on Flowers at mid-season but tune changed somewhat at wrap up time.

More likely he stays at LT but shift to another position would not shock. He will start somewhere though.

That would make it sound like he was all for a guy like Flowers.

How many teams have their OL "solved"? Honest question...Seems like a lot of teams are struggling on the OL..Look at the Colts for Christ sakes..
A lot of teams dont
Ten Ton Hammer : 2/15/2017 9:22 pm : link
Which makes it even harder to address. Most of the league is looking for linemen that can play.

That's much easier said than done.
Jacksonville 60 mil under cap
Chip : 2/15/2017 10:02 pm : link
It helps with the line with that much cap space.

Problem is - as we learned last year - you need more than money, you need players available on the FA market.

League wide, just like QB, the LT problem isn't easily solved via FA.
TC had a chance to develop 3rd day picks into o-linemen and couldn't
Ivan15 : 2/15/2017 10:46 pm : link
You can't keep drafting OL in rounds 1-3

Is not a Strong Point with the Giants even with the high
round selections . We have one player with great strength
who should not play LT next season .

Exactly what makes following the personnel moves and coaching/front office philosophy shifts of teams not wearing blue so interesting. Seeing a competitive Jaguars roster made in the TC/BP/Whatever you want to call it mold just added another great story to follow in the NFL.

I guess because it's TC, we'll be spared the 'who gives a shit' comments when somebody posts about the Jags playing on a Thursday night.
Richburg was too small for him at 6'3" 300

But O'Hara wasn't at 6'3" 310?

To be fair, that's three players in an 11-12 year period. And the the times they tried since those three, they didn't get a single NFL player, much less a starter.

I'm a big Coughlin fan, but you are using poor examples in this argument.

David Diehl was a starter before Coughlin showed up starting all 16 games his rookie year. Can't really give credit for his development to Coughlin.

Rich Seubert started all 16 games two years before Coughlin came to the Giants. Can't really give him credit for that one either.

Kevin Boothe was a starter for Oakland before being signed to the Giants as a Free Agent. Can't really give Coach Coughlin credit for developing him either.
