Yeah, yeah, it's the Underwear Olympics and all that, but it's still a big deal to me.
Anyway...I was watching Mel Kiper on ESPN yesterday talking about his latest mock draft. He had Derek Barnett going to the Giants at #23, but said that if he tests really well in Indy he'll most likely be long gone by then. I'll agree with that, so I'll be keeping an eye on Barnett.
In another thread, I mentioned the two WRs I'm interested in seeing - Chad Hansen and Josh Reynolds - as I think either one would compliment OBJ and SS very well.
My favorite LB is Tyus Bowser, and I think he'll blow the roof off the place, much like Jamie Collins did a few years back.
As for the big guys, first there are a couple of Johnsons - OG Dorian and OT Roderick - plus my sleeper OT - Jerry Ugokwe - and the two OGs who got hurt at the Senior Bowl - Nico Siraguasa and Issac Asiata.
Of course there are the TEs. I don't expect anyone to "out test" Njoku, but I'm interested in seeing how some of the lesser-known prospects test...guys like Adam Shaheen and Scott Orndorff.
Note to idiotsavant: Stay off the freakin' thread.
Also want to see how the QBs shake out.
I want to see just how athletic he is. Does he run like Shazier?
Giants bring back JPP and add this explosive player to the 2nd level. They liked Floyd because he could rush and cover from LB. Reddick can too.
Also want to see Taywan Taylor workout. He measure only 5'11" but I think he's super explosive and will have one of the best workouts. He is not just a slot WR and I'd love him on the Giants in round 2.
On that note, as soon as I saw the title of the thread, I also thought of Josh Reynolds, and seeing how he would perform. Also want to see ArDarius Stewart's results and several running backs, like Kamara, Foreman, Jamaal Williams, McNichols, Gallman, and Mack.
Would like to see some short shuttle and 3-cone times on the 2nd-tier and below D-linemen.
TE, I'm more curious on Leggett's numbers than anyone else.
I also want to watch the WR group as always. Want to see some of the bigger wideouts that have been talked about on here. Wouldn't mind this being where the Giants go with the 2nd or 3rd round pick. I'd like to see them improve the offense this year through the draft and FA and hopefully we will see the full McAdoo offense on display.
WR: Carlos Henderson, Chad Henson, Damore'ea Stringfellow
But really I'm just looking forward to all of them...
I know, the numbers are hard to believe, and its probably convenient for fans to assume that the NFL and NCAA have a crystal ball as to which kids have an NFL future worthy of an invite to the big combine, whereas we here all know that is not the case.
However, the number of kids in college make the combine discussion seem a tad narrow to me:
NCAA Participants Approximate # Draft Eligible # Draft Slots # NCAA Drafted % NCAA to Major Pro* % NCAA to Total Pro^
-----------
72,788 (total all years in college, high school is closer to 1,000,000 kids)
16,175 (draft eligible college football players)
256 (will get pro contracts)
256
1.6% 1.9% (% types of contracts)
so, the combine invite list is by definition very limited and leaving out many potential NFL players
it also goes to the 'bigger, faster and move kids from talent positions into those that had garnered attention within the 70k pool, such as college wrs into pro fullbacks or running backs, safeties into linebackers, and having much bigger D ends etc.
I find him interesting too. Is he a Kevin Boss underdog or a Gronk V 2.0?

NFL DRAFT: Ashland Tight End Adam Shaheen Highlights - ( New Window )
I think we're likely to go WR or TE in 1. So, those guys primarily. Perine though seems like a guy ripe for our 3rd round pick. I saw an analysis that compared him to Le'Veon Bell, not in terms of talent. but as a guy who's coming out of school the size of a fullback. The conclusion was if he can slim down, he might be able to become a bellcow type of RB.
I want to see these guys' hands too.
