NFT: Knicks Chat: "Multiple" teams interested in Rose

-That per Begley

- Hawks looking to be buyers, have a bunch of extra picks (not really clear what they are looking for?)

on a 49 win team in 2012-13 with 2 ball dominant players.
this idea he only scores because its a bad team is incorrect. efficient scorer, and can now shoot 3s.
good interior presence on defense (8 blocks vs. the bucks the other night)... poor pick n roll defender.... not a good rebounder.

he is like Rik Smits. He is better then Gortat- and should get a first. no team will trade 2 firsts however and i dont blame them. as someone smartly mentioned also, all firsts arent created equal.

Who says no?

Probably Minnesota. They have a lot of bad big men contracts. Pekovic is probably one of their better ones, he only has like a year left I believe. They have like $40M committed to Pek, Dieng, Hill and Aldrich and none of those guys are starters.

“I can’t respect Sprewell. These guys were flown in town to make him look good. I can’t respect those guys no more” — and even longtime running mate Patrick Ewing.

“Any time for Patrick [Ewing] to speak up, you think this would be it — he was my closest teammate who played with me,” Oakley told The Undefeated.

is a decent scorer. While he is a poor pure shooter, he's one of those guys where the whole building knows he is going left, but he gets there anyway. Very strong player. But besides some bench scoring, he generally doesn't provide any other value.

I don't think Minnesota can sell anyone on him. They're attaching him to Rubio to get takers but no one seems to be interested.

I'd take Shabazz over someone like say, TJ warren because he can at least rebound and shoot 3s but I don't think he's anything more than a bench scorer. Very Michael Beasley to me.

gonna come to Spree's and Ewing's defense now? I love Oak but maybe he does have some problems. By the way, he scheduled an autograph signing with Steiner Sports. What timing.

The whole world was on your side already, Charles. You don't have to accept any apologies but why keep going with this?

there were reasons Oak was persona non grata at MSG that go beyond "Dolan is a moron".

New Rookie of the Year favorite?
giantsfan44ab : 2/17/2017 2:13 pm : link
"I already love the guy Philly fans call The Homie. I get the reasons some are more skeptical. Saric's 3-point shooting stroke comes and goes. He's not the most athletic cat. It takes every ounce of speed in those legs to beat some power forwards off the bounce, which means he has little chance to blow by wings. It's unclear how he'll fit on either end alongside Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. When it all shakes out, Saric may be a high-end backup -- the sort who plays 25-plus minutes at multiple positions, filling every lineup hole.

I don't care. The guy plays with such fire. He's feisty on the boards, and on defense. He gets more done in tight spaces than it looks like he should be able to. One reason: He has a nasty left hand. It gives Saric more options for finishing spinny flip shots around the basket from strange angles. He can get the ball up on the glass before defenders expect it there. His game has a purposeful arrhythmic quality.

Being almost ambidextrous unlocks more passing lanes when Saric drives into a crowd. He doesn't have to switch hands, so he can sneak the ball through a teensy crevice before it closes.

This guy is skilled, and fun. Embiid has missed almost half of Philly's games now. Malcolm Brogdon has fallen off a bit. Is Saric going to be our Rookie of the Year?"

Also on Brandon Ingram:

""It has been a rough season for Ingram. He's shooting 36 percent, and just 30 percent on 3s. He hasn't cracked 20 points in a game yet. Most future franchise players don't start out this way. Some teenagers do, though. Check out Dirk Nowitzki's rookie numbers.

With that implausibly spindly body, Year 1 in the NBA was always going to be a tough. Good news: There are no outward signs that fear, panic, or insecurity have infected Ingram's game. He still plays with a calm confidence. He launches from deep when he's open, and dares to explore the possibilities of a pick-and-roll. He sees the floor well.

He hasn't cowered, or gone the opposite direction and pressed to justify his draft slot. He doesn't take bad shots, or rush into reckless drives ending in fancy no-look dishes. He just plays, and there is something refreshing in that for L.A. fans. Ingram may never be a star, but he should be a good player for a long time."

a lot worse than Dirk was as a rookie. Grasping at straws to find a comp of a kid drafted that high going from what he is doing to stardom.

Link below is to WS48 (my favorite advanced stat) for rookies 1500+ minutes, worst to best. Ingram is #14, at -.014. Worst franchise players I see are Boogie (.022), Greek Freak (.031), Russ (.035), Karl Malone (.036), Durant (.040). Of the guys to start with negative rookie WS48s, best players I saw were Allan Houston, Abdul Rauf, Lavine, Seikaly.

Lakers don't have a future franchise player on their roster right now. I see Ingram as Wesley Matthews/Otto Porter type.

Houston would certainly qualify as a "good player for a long time". Obviously with the #2 pick you hope for stardom, but getting Allan Houston wouldn't be the worst thing. Far better than the next Milicic.

Jackson for Augustin?? I don't think Jackson is amazing but hes 26 and is still rusty coming off surgery. At least someone who showed flashes of being a good PG last year, still fairly young.

The one I was referring to was. From the above:

Quote:

My point was solely with respect to Lowe's most franchise players dont start this way remark. He pointed to Dirk, who was materially better than Ingram. I noted a bunch of guys who turned into good players like Houston, but none of them a franchise player.

In fact, one NBA source The Post, “I don’t think Derrick is helping Porzingis’s growth, with his head down going to the basket, not really looking for him.’’

Indeed, Porzingis would like a better feel for Rose’s game.

“We’re still trying to find that connection between us, where we know exactly where the guy’s going to be,’’ Porzingis said before the World squad beat the U.S., 150-141, on Friday in the Rising Stars Challenge. Porzingis scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 33 minutes. “I’ve been trying to roll to the basket more. That’s another adjustment for the guards. I’m not always at the 3-point line. We have to get a really good feel for each other. That doesn’t happen overnight. We’re still trying to work on that.’’
There's no doubt.
Keith : 2/18/2017 10:21 am : link
Rose needs to be on a team like the old Bulls teams where he was the offense and everyone else played defense and did the little things. He can't be on a team with 2 other guys that can score, especially when one of the 2 is like Rose and can't do much else besides score.
