With Nikta recently being cut, and Will Johnson the only serviceable player for the position, we surely are going to bring someone or multiple players in as competition. Any FA of interest to watch or college players to keep an eye on?
The Giants offensive scheme has phased out the pure / traditional FB. The more versatile HB is who to look for. Someone who can play FB, online TE and move TE.
Currently only 2 HBs of note on the roster (Will Johnson and LaCosse), more will likely be added to compete in camp.
the Ravens' FB. They said he is/should be a legit priority for them because he is that good. They would line him up as a receiver and not just in the slot. If Baltimore pays others then he may not be resigned.
I think we'll see a more traditional FB next year. As bad as our OL is, you would think they would want a FB that can help. Again our 3rd and short success rate was below average.
I think the early injuries to will Johnson and Whitlock, left us bare at the position. I hope we recognize it.
Juszczyk is one of if not the best fullback in football. I don't see the Ravens letting him go. If they do, we should look at him as he can catch out of the backfield and is a monster in the run game.
undrafted 'run-catch' fullbacks, as opposed to mainly block first from two backs, there are usually 'short / heavy, tad too slow WRs ' that drop down and out of the draft, as opposed to looking at those who just played FB:
Robert Davis WR Georgia State 6'2" 225lbs
(probably one of many like this)
CBS once again:
''STRENGTHS: Davis is a coordinated athlete with good overall size and muscle definition for the position. He accelerates fluidly, showing at least moderate top-end speed as well as deceptive burst to squirt through traffic and break into the open field. He is an effective route-runner, demonstrating just enough burst and balance out of his breaks to generate separation. He was asked to run a variety of pro-style routes in this offense, showing the awareness and body control to set up defenders with effective double-moves. He possesses good body control to contort in the air, spinning to be an effective weapon on back shoulder fades. Davis is a generally reliable hands-catcher. He is an effective vertical threat, showing acceleration as well as the vision and balance necessary to track the ball over his shoulder.
WEAKNESSES: Davis was a man amongst boys at this level and may lack the straight-line speed necessary to keep defenders from crowding him at the line of scrimmage. He is more smooth than explosive out of his breaks, creating slivers of space that NFL quarterbacks may opt to avoid. Davis needs to do a better job of high-pointing passes, catching balls at eye-level rather than extending his arms and boxing out defenders as effectively as his size suggests.

We need one of these; the Packers saw their excellent fullback (John Kuhn) leave for New Orleans, they just turned around and picked up this beast (from Oklahoma in the sixth round) .....

Tommy: he's a big, lumbering receiver. Looks good in highlights but how are his pass & run blocking skills?

FB position is a dying breed

He is tough.
He is only 26.
If he is still available when free agency hits, I would definitely take a look at him.
There are some options out there right now. And these players are not expensive.
UDFA is most likely.

No kidding? They're like the Manning family of Fullbacks!
Hell yeah. Just think about Perkins getting an extra split second running to his side. Wow.

Aaron Ripkowski ....

Looks like he has some very good blocking skills.
Ask Jonathan Casillas what he thinks of him
