This had nothing to do with "treating Cruz Well". It's not like they were "iffy" on him at a representative salary---they were hamstrung by his Cap Hit.

The Giants didn't even approach him with the idea of a pay cut (despite him publicly seeming open to it to stay).
They're done with him until he retires and probably will sign a one-day deal, like Osi, Tuck, etc.
