NFT: UEFA Champions League Thread: Man City/Monaco

Say this for Man City, for better or worse they have certainly been entertaining this season. Tons of attacking talent, a horrific backline and goaltending. And those have all been on display today.

To recap: Currently down 3-2 at home, Sane and KDB great, John Stones and Otamendi shockingly bad, some controversial (to say the least) penalties given or not given, Pep's insistence on playing out from the back continuing to burn him.

Champions league has not lacked for excitement so far this year.
It was a horrid non-call on the Aguero takedown in the box

And the subsequent yellow Aguero was given for diving. The goaltender clearly swept his leg.

Regardless, the repulsive backline play from City is a glaring need to be addressed.

B, if you read this, don't know if you saw that Gabriel Jesus is likely done for the season after breaking a metatarsal against Bournemouth last week.
It was a terrible call, clearly a penalty

and I'm not a City fan

3-3 now, Aguero with two. City has to find a way to not concede now.

Also 3-2 Atletico over Leverkusen. Quite a day of matches
This match is crazy

City with 3 in the past 11 minutes and now lead 5-3. Aguero has been on a mission.
Crazy

Aguero has been unreal. And Sane has been a threat all game.

Stones and Otamendi are pure shit.

And this ref has been horrific.

Great comeback by City.
Such a fun match

Monaco far from dead with the way City defend.
2nd leg may be even more open

Monaco has to attack and City thrives on the counter. Could be a 10-6 jobber.
Monaco

is going to get raided over the Summer. Lemar and Mbappe are first to go.
Bernardo Silva

Is another one that'll most likely be gone over the summer. Madrid, Barcelona, United & Chelsea are all interested.

That Mbappe kid is a stud. Just turned 18 in December. They're calling him the new Thierry Henry.
Watched it late

Though he made up for it with the goal, Stones wasn't great at Everton last year and hasn't improved any at Man City this year either. He should be better than this. I read an interesting thing about him the other day that Pep is considering moving him to midfield next season as a holding midfielder.

The thinking is Pep has conceded he cannot get Stones to turn down the aggressive way he plays defense so his risky style of play may be better suited if he has support behind him instead of being the last line of defense. We'll see if that happens though because I don't think he has the passing range to play in the midfield even if it is in a deeper role.
