NFT: Homeland Season 6 - w/ Spoilers

ErichBarnes102 : 2/21/2017 7:43 pm
Anyone else watching?
Season had seemed pretty meh until the closing scene of ep. 4, and then ep. 5 definitely ramped up the intensity. Good to see Quinn coming back to life - even as a semi-psycho.

Would have liked some background on how Carrie ended up as a critical member of a Legal Aid team as she has no experience in that field as far as I can recall. Same for her relationship with the President-elect.

Also, if I ever need a babysitter, I'm definitely calling Latisha(sp?).
I'm trying to figure out the whole Dar dynamic...

Is he really playing everyone to keep his status as CIA chief, or is he just a dick.

Season was definitely a snoozer but has picked up the last two episodes.
I'm loving this season.
Jerz44 : 2/21/2017 8:11 pm : link
Best one since seasons 1-2, in my opinion. Although the raid in the last episode seemed kind of dumb.

Can't wait to see how it develops.
Also love the season

By the Quinn hostage thing was super weird. It has to have some larger meaning than PTSD, no idea how he gets off on it.
Quinn

I was hoping Quinn would revert back to being a bad ass. I hate seeing him like this.Other than that, this season is good.
Regardless of what else is going on with Quinn...
manh george : 2/21/2017 8:28 pm : link
he doesn't have PTSD, he has TBI--Traumatic Brain Injury.

Nevertheless, he figured something out that hasn't been resolved yet.

I am really enjoying this season. As some said, back to seasons 1-2.

"The Missing" on Starz is at least as good, though.

Rupert's acting in the first 2 episodes literally gave me chills. anyone whose spent time with disabled people would definitely identify.
It's definitely more than PTSD
UConn4523 : 2/21/2017 8:39 pm : link
I'm just not sure what they will go with to get him off. Brain injury or not he fired into a crowd of people. I just hope his arc is plausible.

The Missing is the best show on TV. Just finished Season 2 and it's up there with the best seasons in TV history. The actor playing Baptiste put on a lights out performance.
He didn't fire into a crowd of people

He hit that dude in the bullseye right in his shoulder. Quinn is back.

Haha, ohh yeah he nailed him. Watching him put together the pieces of the neighbor across the street and then protect Franny at all costs is awesome. But I couldn't help but roll my eyes about the hostage thing. I'm guessing Dar helps get him off in exchange for Carrie helping him lay some groundwork with the president elect?
Do you need to see season one of

Yes, definitely. The cases are separate but there's enough dot connecting that I wouldn't recommend not viewing Season 1 which is great as well. I watched it about 3 years ago when it first aired and just watched season 2 and was surprised about how much I remembered about season 1. It's a story that will sit with you for a long time.
Thanks UConn

Will do👍
I like this season
pjcas18 : 2/21/2017 8:54 pm : link
such s different direction within the same general theme, it's unusual IMO a show can reinvent themselves like this.
The thing that bothers me
B in ALB : 2/21/2017 8:59 pm : link
Is they obviously want to draw a parallel between the real election cycle and the show. But it didn't quite turn out that way.

And The Seku angle is beyond obvious that he didn't have anything to do with the bomb.

Dar Adal is filth.
Agree with the crowd, very good so far
mfsd : 2/21/2017 9:47 pm : link
New themes and interesting new characters once again.

But I hope the plot isn't as simple as evil CIA men plotted bombing using young Muslim patsy in order to gain leverage over new (woman) president who wants to introduce her new ideals. Would end up being too predictable.
Speaking of hot Homeland chicks

The young Iranian woman from a few seasons ago is one of the most beautiful women you'll ever see in your life. Just a thoroughly gorgeous human being.

They were filming the season finale outside my buddies apartment in prospect heights this morning. Photo below. Not sure if linked properly.

but I think it has run it's course.

First I can't get past how they completely changed Carrie from the original concept.

Second it has turned more into one of those shows where the story lines are always over the top. The original show spent a lot more time building the story lines and characters.
Yea shit definitely got real the end of Epi 4
Stu11 : 2/22/2017 8:18 am : link
Quinn is a badass. Dar is one nasty M'fer. Man that guy will throw anyone under the bus. Except Quinn thats his boy. I bet now that he sees Quinn can be functional again he tries to bring him back. Yea the re-makes of Carrie have gotten ridiculous. No mention of her being Bipolar any more? Though I will say I don't find the working for legal aid as un-believable as others. Its a logical step from working for the liberal German guy last season, and you can make the argument she never got over what happened a few seasons ago with the young Arab guy that she manipulated/slept with who got killed. Oh And yes Fara the Iranian was one hot number from a few seasons ago. Most shameful death in the show's history!
This season has been really, really good IMO
Mike in Long Beach : 2/22/2017 9:53 am : link
Having said that, I've also liked the last couple of seasons, too. This show's issue is they have horrible finales. Hopefully they correct that as this one is probably my favorite since Season 1.

I think this is a bit of a harsh critique. In season 3 everyone was complaining that the Sergeant Brody storyline has run it's course and that Jessica, Dana, and Chris was even worse. So Homeland listened to the critiques and completely moved on from all of that and I think have created a pretty great new concept still influenced by the past. I'm not sure I agree Carrie's completely changed. The only thing missing is they haven't really gotten into her illness much lately.
you could also assume
UConn4523 : 2/22/2017 10:04 am : link
the stress of being a spy and seeing the world for what it is triggered her symptoms. They don't explicitly say this, but I'm going to assume so since it makes sense to me.

Not as shameful as how that actress was treated by the Church of Scientology. Allegedly of course, I don't want to get sued.
I quit after SEason 4
PaulBlakeTSU : 2/22/2017 11:36 am : link
because I thought it was going stale and I was absolutely sick of the Carrie/Brody storylines. It made me dislike Carrie as a character. Season 4 I watched out of habit and it then got lost in the shuffle.

Last month I binged Season 5 because I heard good things. I thought Season 5 was great and I loved the angle they took focusing on a Wikileaks-type situation. It presented an interesting dilemma. It also ramped up the intensity.

I think this season started slowly, but is getting good again.

Nazanin Boniadi. Gorgeous. I first remember her from How I Met Your Mother.

across the street from Carrie's house that Quinn followed to the lot where the Car/ truck Bomb was kept have a accent. So I thought they were implying that the man was Mosad. Did anyone else feel that way?

XRay is that the guy who was across the street and planted the bomb is a Secret Service Agent.

unless the guy is some kind of contractor I don't see him working directly for Saul. An accent IMHO would indicate to me at least foreign birth which I would imagine make it very difficult for him to get the clearance necessary to get into the Secret Service. Besides I don't think any kind of covert counter intelligence mission is one of the missions of the Secret Service despite their name. By the way since this is domestic this would be way out of bounds for Saul. It would be very high risk no matter what kind of cabal he is hatching between the implied evil military, industrial, and intelligence big wigs he was meeting with at the end of episode one me thinks.

I mean Dar in the evil plot of course Saul is the good guy who I guess is trying to un-cover the plot. My bad.
