Is that a verbal agreement is in place (news of which JPP shared with some teammates) but for whatever reason it won't be signed and/or announced until a later date.
I'm not sure how else to interpret JPP's and Jenkins's posts.
Don't know how I feel about that. we could be given a chance to reasonably match any other offer. that's good. But if we outbid everyone else and no one else bothered to counter with a higher bid. that's bad.
as long as the Giants have made it clear what they think a fair offer is, and everyone remains on friendly terms as JPP shops for a higher bid, I'm good with it. But, as I see it, the reality is that JPP is shopping for a higher bid and will dump the Giants if he can find one.
as a a non-exclusive franchise player JPP negotiate with other NFL teams, but if he signs an offer sheet from another team, the Giants have a right to match the terms of that offer, or if they does not match the offer and thus loses JPP, the Giants are entitled to receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.
Post of the year on BBI right here ladies and gents
