NFT: Thanks to those who recommended The Leftovers

Jay in Toronto : 2/22/2017 9:25 pm
We have these periodic threads that recommned shows to watch.

On a recent one there were several votes for The Leftovers. I just finished binge watching both seasons. What a work of imagination -- of Odyssian proportions.
How about episode 9

You may not be old enough -- but aspects reminded me of Patrick McGoohan in The Prisoner.
Season three starts in April.

How was season 1

I am dreading having to rewatch some of it to get to Season 2?
I've watched

2 episodes (season 1) so far and I'm on the fence. Does the story line pick up pretty soon?
Season 1 was kind of boring,
Brown Recluse : 2/23/2017 9:10 am : link
so I get why some people might be on the fence as they are making their way through it.

But stick with it though. Some shows take some time to get going. This show is phenomenal and season 2 was absolutely fantastic.

And yes, you need to watch all of season 1 before starting season 2.
One of my favorite shows out there right now
gmen9892 : 2/23/2017 9:37 am : link
Very pumped for it to come back soon.
I'm a big fan of the show.
Mike in Long Beach : 2/23/2017 9:46 am : link
Excited for it's 3rd and final season.
First show or movie I've bought the Bluray/DVDs
Motley Two : 2/23/2017 9:55 am : link
for in over a decade. I can dial it up whenever, but the Blurays I can lend to friends.
intrigued by the Toronto and TSU recos:

On what platform (Netflix, FX, Amazon, etc.) is it available?

And how would you summarize the plot, tension, social and/or political (or whatever) premises?

I actually liked Season 1 a lot.

There are some episodes that are a little slower and a little "eh" but overall, I loved it. Season 2 is better but I was in love with the show after S1. I feel like most people didn't really start to become huge fans of it until S2.. which I get.
Beuhler, Buehler, Buehler?
ColHowPepper : 2/23/2017 11:35 am : link
lol, anyone? tia
To answer some questions
Jay in Toronto : 2/23/2017 6:52 pm : link
I stream off websites.

I thought Season 1 was good, 2 was superlative.

Hard to look at politically except the dangers of mobs.

The plot is not linear and dystopian dark. As I said earlier, aspects remind me of The Prisoner. Good acting and intelligent script

HBO and it's about a small town in upstate NY where it's citizens cope after the planet lost 3% of its total population (vanished in an instant for no rhyme or reason), some of which resided in the town. It's dark, and character driven with extremely well done writing and acting. The score is brilliant as well.
I too love the show

Season two much better. I'm hoping the final season 3 is the best of all.
