Sacre bleu...as our resident nightowl MiLB pointed out, however fleeting, there's a new WC2 placeholder from Brooklyn. A positive development, but there's still a loooong way to go. Don't get comfortable. Things don't get any easier heading to the Bell Centre tonight.
Thomas Greiss gets the start. Zeeker will miss the next 4 weeks with an upper body injury (broken hand) and has been IRed; Cal hasn't been given clearance to return, and Prince hasn't gotten the green light just yet although he's expected back for Saturday's game. What does that mean? Veteran Sound Tiger Bracken Kearns has been emergency recalled - largely because of his solid 2-way game - and will be on a line with Kulie and Gionta tonight. Weight expects Kulie to be moved around a bit tonight. Regarding Kearns, the Sound Tigers leading scorer with 40 points (18G, 22A) in 51 games:
"He's had a great year. The great thing about Bracken is that he's a pro. He's been around. He's had some stints in the NHL and played well," Interim Coach Doug Weight said. "A smart hockey player, a heady hockey player and can play with some edge."
"I know the teams playing well up here and hopefully I can come up here and fill a role," Kearns said. "I need to be responsible out there, play on an edge and pretty much anything I can do to help the team win." |
Also excited to get a chance to play in front of his friends and family in Quebec tonight is your 2C tonight, Anthony Beauvillier:
"It will be special. Every game I came to Bell Centre I told my dad I hope I'm going to play here one time. Now it's happening tonight." |
A hometown hatty for the rookie tonight, then, please.
Let's Go Islanders
Hopefully Price is on or the Canadiens lose.
How it goes lately.
I'm with you on this.
Ah gotcha. I think of the Ladd line as line 2 at this point ha
Good kill overall
Bailey all alone with literally no one around him - - - probably has never been so alone before
Agree. I think both were clean but Lee has to stand up for hon

Just hard hits. I don't like that Lee drew a penalty, although I like that he didn't appreciate JT getting dumped.

EXACTLY. Doesn't matter..
and hon? is that your term of endearment for JT?? ;)
That burst to get that puck by Beau needs to be something he can show more consistently

Haha whoops. Not taking it back though!

how that's an Islanders power play. Tavares initiated contact with Emelin, and Emelin gets interference. He didn't touch Lee and Emelin gets a roughing call somehow.
I think most of us agree with you. Nothing needed to be called in that sequence.
Montreal needs all the help they can get, not Emelin reputation calls. Some people still hold onto the old truisms that calls like that always go the Canadiens way in Montreal. I think all the old advantages are gone.
Tough hole to climb out of, Islanders undefeated in regulation leading after 2.

I see what you're doing. Stop it.
That said, I really don't think it's a good idea for us to play the remaining 11 minutes in our end.
