A player who may not be drafted, but may pay...

M.S. : 2/24/2017 11:14 am
...significant dividends: Tarik Cohen, a tiny running back out of North Carolina AT& T.

He's very short and he's not carrying around a lotta weight. But he's running off a thick-set base, and given how low he's built to the ground, he can make radical, gyroscopic moves while hardly gearing down.

He ain't gonna push the pile... and he will go down on contact, assuming defenders tackle properly, which is difficult considering Tarik Cohen is so much smaller than what they are used to tackling.

So, what has this guy got going for him?

1) Scary, uncanny vision with the ability to cut and veer into spaces that don't look like spaces;
3) The size to play hide-and-go-seek behind his linemen;
4) Blinding speed;
5) Radical spins at full speed in close confines.
6) The ability to get going North-and-South in heavy traffic.

Very easy to root for Tarik Cohen! Some team will give him a shot -- if need be, as a free agent. I don't think they will be disappointed. I think this tiny ball of energy has an NFL career in front of him.

Sounds like Dave Megget,

does he return punts?
Sounds interesting

How would you use him?
How good are his hands?
Do you see him as a 3rd down back? maybe lining up in the slot?

Special teams KO/PR
Electric players are in vogue now do you have a link to a highlight reel?

He wasn't asked to return punts or kick-offs, but I think that would be a way for him to stick on a roster.
Intriguing UDFA possibility

but really, really small. Closer to 5'5" than 5'8". Can't say the odds are that good he catches on. Seems like a less-pedigreed Noel Devine. I know lots of people compare him to a Darren Sproles-type too. Maybe with some more lower-half bulking in an NFL strength program.

Somewhat reminiscent of Ron Jean from Lehigh...

I think he catches the ball well.
Could be used as a third down back.
Wasn't used as a Kick Returner or Punt Returner.
My biggest worry is his blocking in the backfield.
See link to highlights.

I agree... will be hard for him to catch on, but I think he has super intriguing possibilities.
Finally a Jewish running back

I can get on board for that.
Quick dumpoffs?

On the line for 4 wide to either go deep or quick underneath slants a la Woodhead, White, and other safety valve Pats RBs. If he is quick he will draw attention.
Thanks for the link Matt

Good Find. It's hard not to like what see on that tape.

Explosive Playmaking ability. The key is get him the ball in space. That speed and vision combo is off the charts.

For a little man with his height he plays much bigger and as you say he is hard to tackle.

Yes I like him too.
He's just a darn good football player.
Every once in a while a guy like
Brown Recluse : 2/24/2017 2:10 pm : link
Sproles or Warrick Dunn comes along.

I always enjoy seeing guys like this overcome size limitations and stereotypes.
But WAIT.

He can do backflips (while catching the ball). Jerry is all over this one, I'm sure.

Reminds me more of Joe Morris than Dave Meggett

Wait! I hadn't watched the end. Has anyone told OBJ he's allowed to use two hands? Is he planning a JPP?
He's a talented little RB.

Sproles was only 5'5" at the Combine, but probably has 30 - 35 lbs on Cohen at this point. Still, I hope somebody takes a look at this young man.

-catches the ball well
-hard to tackle due to small size, ala Sproles
-fast as lightning

And pass protection.

His biggest challenges to overcome. Hope he makes it!
