I don't see the lateral quickness from him. He does a lot of things well and could be a nice complementary back for some team but I just don't see it with us.
Wirh our OL we need a back that can make plays like this.
I agree he'd be a very useful addition to the Giants offense that could do a lot of the things they need to have done. The simple-mindedness that goes into labeling players often tells us less than nothing at all would. Nobody is going to confuse this young man with Sproles, or Tiki, but he's a WHOLE lot more than just a battering ram. As a runner he's got better agility than he's commonly given credit for, plus superior vision and decent speed once he get moving. He's just an all around good, pro-sized RB. But better yet, he can block and catch as well. He should be able to see reps early and contribute during his rookie season.
The Giants pick so late in each round, I hope he's still there in the 3rd, there's both he and a TE I'd like that I suspect might go pretty close together.
he'll probably run north of 4.6, which is ok for a power runner. But, he's not going to break consistent 40+ yarders in the NFL.
Saw a breakdown on him that said he might be helped to lose 20-30 pounds and that his speed should improve a la Le'Veon Bell. Just a FWIW, not sure how it'll play out.
He does have good speed in the open field though. When he gets his legs moving he can be faster than he looks. Slow acceleration though.
power runner with a lot of experience, but little wiggle or burst, but can pound the defense and soften up the front. That makes him a limited weapon at the NFL level. If we live within those expectations, he's a good change of pace opposite a back with burst and acceleration.
Personally, I wouldn't be so fast to entrench Perkins. Good prospect but wouldn't rest on laurels if they want a bigger threat.
