Didnt see posted. Will obv delete if old news. Both are interesting and unrealistic.
Jeremiah has us taking Mitch Trubisky at 23. I cant fathom a qb with his attributes falling that far. But it would present a quandary for the Giants: ignore other needs and select Eli's replacement to hold a clipboard for 2-4 years. Or possibly draft him and trade for a premium LT. It would be interesting if he is still there. He doesnt have that Ideal QB size at 6'3 220. But from what I have seen he has a good, possibly very good arm, very good feet, makes his decisions quickly and gets rid of the ball. To be fair, I never watched him play live other than highlights. But like I said...interesting.
Casserly's mock has two or three hypothetical trade ups where New England trades up with Cleveland and the Giants trade to 18 with the Titans to select Ramczyk out of Wisconsin. I would love that pick because big 10 tackles tend to be not only safe, but excellent (see Tennessee's duo). Wisconsin has a rep for producing good linemen. But trading up 5 spots in the first? When did we last do that? What a move like that cost?
I know its early, but thought provoking to say the least.
I wouldn't mind that, if they think the guy is a starting OLT.
And I'm on the anti-QB bandwagon. Unless it's the fourth or later.

I am all for giving up a 3rd for a plug n play LT with polish that can slide Flowers to the right side. Then get a G in FA...would be cheaper than say Whitworth. But the hip surgery scares me a lot. Plus, i think Tenn would want more out of us because they know we need that player.

Yeah, look how poorly that same strategy worked out for the Packers.

we take a QB that high - dude's gonna be a clipboard holder for at least 2 years and this team is VERY close. There's way too much need and big holes can be filled with that pick (McCaffrey, Ramscyk, OJ Howard, Dalvin Cook if he falls)

Trubisky is no Arron Rodgers. Similar to the level of quality we see in this draft class with this OL, this is a very weak QB class.
How do you know that?
OBVIOUSLY, teams didnt think Aaron Rodgers would be Aaron Rodgers at the time.
And even if he isnt Aaron Rodgers doesnt mean he isnt worth the 23rd pick just bc he might sit a year or two.
And I'd also bite the bullet and take Trubisky or one of the other QBs if the team feels that any of them is a franchise QB.
I still think they fill a need but can also see this being a BPA pick. Isn't that the approach every year?
Why? His best qualities are his fluid motion, bend, and technique.
I bet people in GB said the same thing when they selected Rodgers.
I don't think there's any way he gets past the Bears at #3, and even if he does, the Jets are sitting at #6.
QB needy teams and draft slots prior to #23:
1. Cleveland
2. San Francisco
3. Chicago
6. New York Jets
10. Buffalo
11. New Orleans ??? Brees is 38 years old.
12. Cleveland again - from Philadelphia
13. Arizona - Palmer is 37 and considered retiring after last season, this could be his last in the NFL.
17. Washington (8-7-1) Only if Cousins is playing elsewhere, unlikely as he will probably be tagged.
And you could still see Houston trade up for a QB.
Trubisky is one of the top 3 Quarterbacks in the draft, no matter how you rank them. I personally think he will be one of the top 2 QBs taken, with a very realistic chance at going #1 overall.
Neither him or Watson will be at #23, and that's a good thing, as the Giants are just a couple of pieces away from hoisting another Lombardi.
