But I would rather win games than beauty contests. We are all happy that Fluker was signed but this honeymoon can end very abruptly if they play like their past indicates. I understand the optimism but we need to see production.
In Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan. Jags before that had Searcy and Boselli. Titans had a nice combo with Hopkins and the other guy.
Would be nice if something clocked with Flowers and Fluker became a solid RT with the new change of scenery. But at this point, Im just looking for decent pass pro and to be able to get some push in the run game.
just size and built wise. The thing is you can't teach the physical attributes they each have. It comes down to how hard they want to work on their craft now. Which is something you can coach up.
The Oline issue was also Eli and the running game fault. No TE or Fullback that could block. Really one stud Wr and no big WR on the outside. The Giants have addressed all these issues. Now are we done? I am not sure we could add a veteran RB to pound the ball like Murray or Williams at a cheap price to go with Perkins. I believe we will also be better with playaction passes.

Robbie, I think at age 23 & 25 there is more justification then not to expect growth and have optimism. Especially Flowers, also you have to assume Solari was consulted prior to Fluker's signing.
RE: so now Flowers and Fluker are perfect bookend tackles
While Flowers had technique issues at Miami that clouded his prospects at left tackle, Fluker's problems were of a different magnitude, and cast doubt on whether he could play outside at all. Also, those Crimson Tide teams - with Ingram, Richardson, Lacy, and Yeldon running behind ridiculous lines- mostly steamrolled opponents on the ground. Fluker seldom faced an all-out pass rush; and when he did, the results were decidedly mixed.
There's little mystery to Fluker's struggles as an NFL tackle, no matter how much he looks the part. The Chargers gambled that they could coach him up, and it didn't work out. The Giant took a similar chance with Flowers, though a somewhat less extreme one. The final verdict there is pending.
...at least not one I'd draft with an expectation he could play well as a rookie. So yeah that would be forcing the pick. but maybe the Giants see it different. Personally I think they forced both the Flowers and Pugh picks.

Would it really surprise you if the Giants "forced" another OL pick in the 1st round?
I hope they don't, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did.
Been a dream since.......

This doesn't solve the problem though, since it is unlikely this young talented OL can be kept for very long.
Edge rushers have gotten smaller. Speed kills 340lb dudes who can't move their feet
We know they are strong massive men with extremely long arms....
Technical issues are their problem..... They never had to learn the small stuff.....As they had the tools to dominate in college.
Solari, it's up to you.
I like the value we got in Fluker, Ellison and Marshall.
Actually that's not what he said, but continue

They got 'value' in Ellison, 4/18, with 8 mill GTD??

re-read erics post and then punch yourself in the face
What a line that would be!

If we somehow luck into a LT early in the draft (without forcing the pick), you've got something promising on paper.
