While I hate that shootouts decide an extra point in the NHL, not going to lie, I love watching them. They used to say the penalty shot is the most tense/exciting play in sports and the shootout is the same. But to decide a point? stupid. I still watch them though.

The WBC extra innings rule is just ridiculous. I hated it when it began in the 13th inning, in the 11th it's even worse. That I agree, not interested.

I hope yesterday's WBC extra inning fiasco puts to rest any talk of using the rule in the MLB someday. Unlike NCAA Football or the NHL where your turn in OT allows you to score a fixed amount of points and then the other team gets a turn, this system benefits the team with the stronger line up and a rally (which may not even be all the pitchers fault) that goes until your offense run out of outs means the game is over. Giving a line up like the DR, 2 men on with nobody out means they are as likely to score 4 runs as 1 or 2.

It was a joke how the MBLTV annoucers were making it sound like Columbia would have a chance in the bottom of the 11th inning. Once you score 3 or more runs in the top of the extra inning the game was over. If nothing else the giving up 3 runs is demoralizing, Giving up 7? Ha!
