Path to the draft...

Ed A. : 3/14/2017 2:43 am
Mocks Riddick to the Giants at 23. What do you guys think?
He's my draft bromance.

I think he'd do for our front 7 what Collins does for the secondary.
A 3 down, sideline to sideline MLB is the only missing piece

Last year.....I am all for it.....
He wouldn't be a MLB
allstarjim : 3/14/2017 5:46 am : link
He would be the WLB. I don't see it. Even if you are convinced he'll be a star, we have plenty of established veterans at linebacker as it is, with Goodson currently penciled in to take over the MLB position. The position group isn't devoid of talent, the Giants never put a premium on linebackers in the draft (last first rounder I believe was Carl Banks), and it does nothing to address the significant holes on offense, where the Giants MUST be much better this year if they intend to compete for a Super Bowl.

If they went defense in the first, and I don't see them doing it, I could see Taco Charlton, Obi Melifonwu, Malik Hooker (if he fell), or Jonathan Allen if he fell. Reuben Foster would be tempting, but I really doubt they would go linebacker.

I think they will draft offense early and often. I could see one of the top two receivers if either of them fall, or OJ Howard, and if not them, then OL like Ramczyk or Bolles, potentially even Lamp.
All star, who are all of these veteran LBers

You speak of?

JT Thomas will eventually get cut, Sheppard and Robinson are not under contract.

I get the bromance

He is talented, intriguing prospect. But I just think there is too much projecting going on when it comes to a position switch and level of competition. If I were drafting at the end of the first round and there were no more prospects with 1st round grades to choose from, I would consider the gamble. But with the 23rd pick, the Giants should have choices that check more boxes.
He's a future star
Torrag : 3/14/2017 6:57 am : link
That's what you want in your 1st Rounder. I'd prefer going this route than forcing yet another 1st Round OL(Flowers/Pugh).

He diagnoses quickly and attacks. Great ball awareness. Top notch athlete that plays a physical game. Great tackler. Extremely versatile in line or in space. Explosive pass rusher with closing burst to the QB. Plays a position of need.

Frankly I don't see him being there at #23 but you never know. If he is I'd think long and hard about pulling the trigger.

Goodson penciled in ???? What has he done .... there is only a few players that should be penciled in imo he is not one of them As a matter of fact the only guys I would pencil in would be Eli ,OBJ,Collins everybody else needs to earn their stripes !!!! Ok maybe a few others excuse my excageration but I hate that penciled in stuff !
Would love it

Should be a great WILL
I'd like it.
Klaatu : 3/14/2017 9:12 am : link
But in Jeremiah's scenario, I think the Giants would be much more likely to draft Mike Williams, Taco Charlton, or Garett Bolles.
I thinks Reddick is the real deal
Rjanyg : 3/14/2017 9:18 am : link
He can do it all. Would be the best LB we have had since Jesse Armstead.
Reddick
ryanmkeane : 3/14/2017 9:48 am : link
was a walk on at Temple and his mom took out a loan to pay for his meal plan so he wouldn't stand out from the group of athletes that had more money. Awesome story. That being said, he did get arrested for a fight on campus. Did this blow over? Seems like nobody is talking about it.
He has us passing on Mike Williams and Dalvin Cook for Reddick
Anakim : 3/14/2017 10:37 am : link
That would be the ultimate remote thrower for me
Don't expect him to be there
JonC : 3/14/2017 10:41 am : link
and wouldn't expect Reese to pick a WILL.

Seems like a great kid. Maybe him getting into a fight isn't all that bad. We need more than a bunch of choir boys.
watched one game tape
RAIN : 3/14/2017 3:34 pm : link
and he was underwhelming in terms of physicality.

He was doubled alot, but he really didn't have the take on or thump I'd want to pair with the obvious movement skills.

He's more athlete than player at this point. I'd have him behind TE, DE, RB value.
I'm guessing you didn't watch his Penn St game
Torrag : 3/14/2017 5:22 pm : link
...because he dominated. When a player requires a double team to account for him he did his job before a snap was made on game day.
