NFT: Impractical Jokers

CMicks3110 : 3/14/2017 9:12 pm
anyone ever see this show? It is one of the most hilarious thing i've ever seen. This one clip is great, must watch:

You are about 5 years too late.

Lol.
Really? I know they've been on for a while, but it's on an
PhiPsi125 : 3/14/2017 9:27 pm : link
obscure channel and I feel that they kinda exploded in popularity over the past 6 months to a year.
I was very late to the party too.

Thought it looked dumb until I watched an episode a few months back. It can be hit or miss, and sometimes it's clear things have been planned or staged but it has its moments. Sal at the bingo hall or when his phone kept going off during the book reading were both hilarious.
Extremely inconsistent
Overseer : 3/14/2017 9:41 pm : link
but at times very funny. Main problem for me is only 1 guy is consistently hilarious and that's Sal. Joe is occasionally okay. Q is even more occasionally okay. Murr is awful.

It's also hard to say how much is "real" and how much is setup or outright fake. This isn't a huge mark against it since another show - Nathan For You - is not always what it seems yet still awesome.

There's some deceptive editing which bugs me a little. In that wedding clip, for instance, they re-use audience reactions at 3:12 and 4:10. Small thing, maybe, but still makes you feel like the show isn't completely authentic.

I do like it though, almost exclusively because of Sal who is hysterical.
Great show
JayBinQueens : 3/14/2017 9:47 pm : link
I think the earlier seasons were better because they weren't somewhat famous then and were genuinely terrified to do some of the pranks
I love that show.

It doesn't really matter if someone enjoys it 5 years later. It is gut laughing funny most of the time.
I don't care if it is five years or whatever later for him.
robbieballs2003 : 3/14/2017 9:53 pm : link
I still watch it whenever it is on. I thought it would lose its luster even after seeing it originally but it is still funny.
Murr's Losses
GiantsAboveAll : 3/14/2017 9:56 pm : link
are some of the funniest, such as the one where he had to face his childhood crush, Winnie Cooper:

I agree 100%. I laugh almost every time that I watch that show.
They crack me up
lono801 : 3/14/2017 10:04 pm : link
They are brutal to each other...
Saw it from when it first aired

it isn't very good anymore. I don't buy that this many people don't know who they are.

That is part of what cracks me up. High School buddies pulling off pranks on each other!
You have to give them credit, they have a great team
montanagiant : 3/14/2017 11:12 pm : link
To be able to constantly come up with new pranks.

Love this show

Agreed as you get to newer eps it's tougher. IMO some events are not that great - like anything with the poster board / cue card reading, or the "do i know you" or "have you seen my wife" stuff. But like anything it's tough to keep with new / fresh ideas

On the other hand, unreal funny: Joe & Q's job interview, almost any of the dental stuff be it the challenges or Murr's novocaine punishment, the tatoo & piercing punishments. Dhopping out of other's carts, the 'putpocketing' games, eating off other people's plates at a restaurant / buffet. Workers at White Castle, cashiers at the grocery store, even the presentations they give without laughing, calling made up names in a waiting room, most of the pool stuff (water park, cruise ship). There's a ton of great stuff

If you can't put yourself in their shoes and just 'expect to laugh' yeah, it's not great. Can't watch even classic SNL for example and get 100% laughs. It's the fact they have huge balls to do this stuff and it's friends messing with each other. IMO it's often entertaining even if not funny in a particular moment

I agree. My favorite is the two way mirror where they can't laugh while interviewing some stranger.

Also, not sure how you can be late to a sketch comedy show on TruTV. It's not like this airs at primetime on a network...
My favorite clip

lost it's luster after a while for me but I've met a few of the guys and they are extremely nice despite their "fame". Q was actually an FDNY firefighter. They film all over the city and their offices are in the FiDi

Yeah, the show had his firemen buddies in the audience for one of the punishments.
One of my favorite shows.

Been watching since the beginning, too. It's hilarious. I find them all funny.
I just cant get the humor in this show

it's the Tom green show but not as funny. There are cameras all over the place. Nobody is actually fooled

I think if the show is to continue they'll need to be in disguise
Joe
UConn4523 : 3/15/2017 11:36 am : link
is the best, guy will do absolutely anything with no remorse. Q sucks, he's the dud of the group, he gets by on being a creep which I guess makes it funny at times.

Murr and Sal have the best chemistry. Both funny for different reasons.

I'll give them credit on the friendship angle, I think its 100% genuine which makes the show much better.
Sal's Dance
feelflows : 3/15/2017 11:47 am : link
Is worth its weight in gold.
I always catch
PaulBlakeTSU : 3/15/2017 1:16 pm : link
clips of this show around tournament time. I normally hate prank shows and hate when bystanders are the butt of others' jokes.

But there's something about this show that cracks me up. These guys are genuinely friends, genuinely terrified to do some of the things they have to do, and have such infectious laughs that it works.
