and found out teams weren't going to give him what he asked for.....so he lowered his demands and went to the Pats.....there was talk he wanted 13-14M per....
I wonder if JPP's agent has looked around, and maybe no one is offering what he wants......so maybe he takes the 17M for one year.....

More like he went searching for offers and took the best one back to the Patriots to match.

Completely different situation. JPP is tagged. Nobody is going to offer JPP what he wants because then they will have to give the Giants two 1st round picks as well. They could try to work out a trade with the Giants for less than the two 1st rounders, but the price would still be much too steep.
I can totally see the Pats resigning Revis and him returning to a top notch player and winning a second ring as a Patriot. Yea just another day in the life of a Jets fan.

What I said Milt, I am sure his agent has tested the market and talked to GM's........and possibly no one is in the area of 17M or Vernon money......therefore, he takes his sweet time, and eventually signs the tag, knowing the Giants would not do it two years in a row.....he could put up similar numbers this coming season(nothing spectacular), and someone would pay him big bucks because there is no compensation......I think he signs the tag...is it a gamble? Yes, but he took a gamble last season too....

Of course no one is in the area of $17M, because nobody is going to give him that kind of money and give up two 1st round draft picks as well. Nobody. So there is no market to test. Think about it. How much would you give JPP if he were an unrestricted free agent? Now take that number and ask yourself if you'd give up two 1st round draft picks as well. Of course you wouldn't! JPP has one team to negotiate with and only one team and that team is the New York Football Giants.

He took a gamble last season because he needed to show he could play without the club on his hand and build on what he did in 2015, which was inconclusive at best. And he succeeded for the most part. But he's not gonna do that again. It would be foolish. I don't know when he and the Giants will come to an agreement on a long term deal, but they will.
Paul's brother?
Try again: Four years, $43.5 million with $19 million guaranteed for Hightower back to the Pats, his agency @_SportsTrust says

This time it was the Jets who did Belichick the favor of negotiating a deal with Hightower on his behalf.

This was the move Patriots needed. Should be an overwhelming favorite to repeat.. maybe most ever.
They still might want a short yardage goal line back not sure if they will give that to Burkhead..
I can't remember the last big $$ FA the Steelers signed.
Kevin Greene? I don't even remember if he was big $$ it was that long ago.
