McDowell is a 1st rounder. Love Moton in the 2nd though.
Ben Boulware

Another in the Nick Greisen, Pete Monty school of HMWG 4th rd. LB's.
...and passing on Lamp.....

I know some reports have him going inside to guard, but I like what I saw (and heard) with him at the Combine.

Instant starter.
Thats

tremendous and very realistic. Nice job

Hank with McDowell would be insane
I like Taylor Moton
djm : 3/15/2017 2:29 pm : link
simply because he has a great name for football. It's worked for me before.
McDowell is an interesting choice
BillT : 3/15/2017 3:05 pm : link
He seems like an unusual talent. If he's too much of a risk though they have Montravious Adams going right after him. Either of those DTs would work for me. Don't love the TE in the 3rd. Still good CBs like Sidney Jones left at that point.
Is there a fundamental difference
Capt. Don : 3/15/2017 3:08 pm : link
between Boulware and Goodson?

Would not be excited about a guy with motor issues in the 1st.

Yeah, Boulware in the 4th would be a remote thrower for me (and it's hard to accomplish a remote thrower pick in the 4th round). That pick would make zero sense after taking Goodson there last year. Not to mention that Boulware is probably a 6th-7th round pick.

Rest of the draft is OK. Not a huge McDowell fan but I see the fit if we don't re-sign Hank. Moton and Legett make sense given our needs.
I'd be sold on this except for the Bouleware pick
adamg : 3/15/2017 3:34 pm : link
That makes no sense for us and is a major reach in the fourth. The other picks would be awesome though.
Giants won't take McDowell
Lionhart28 : 3/15/2017 3:53 pm : link
Dude is a train wreck. Basically quit on his team and didn't get along foreclosures or staff.

The Giants pass on Njoku if available
I'm not happy with that draft either.

McDowell over Ramczyk seems crazy with the depth of DTs in this draft, the paucity of LT talent, and our needs. Boulware is a horrid choice in the 4th. Moton seems to duplicate the RT "talent" we have at present, and Leggett is not a superior TE.
While I like the general

position breakdown for the 1st 4 rounds, like many here not a big fan of the picks, like skipping OL for a DL in the 1st? Even if we don't bring back Hankins, I doubt we go 1st round - heck we've had a pretty good run at DT in 2nd round (excl Austin, who was generally seen as a good talented pick w/issues). Would prefer several of the OL mentioned on this thread (like Ramczyk) in 1st, or one of the top 2 TEs if they were there. Also, agree we don't need a guy like Goodson in Rd 4, if that's what Boulware is. I'm not a draft expert so my opinion counts for zip, but if one of the 1st round graded OTs or TEs is there at our pick, I can't see them going DT - especially since DL is supposed to be deep this year.
I like the 2nd and 3rd round picks
Torrag : 3/15/2017 4:32 pm : link
Not so much the other two.
This is the first mock that seems like a "Giants draft"
Vanzetti : 3/15/2017 7:20 pm : link
A DL with tremendous physical tools who has question marks and/or did not play at a big time program: Strahan, Osi, Tuck, JPP all fall into that category. Unfortunately so does Austin.

And a big-bodied, Jumbo Elliot-like tackle.

I like Njoku but Giants draft philosophy has always been to emphasize linemen in the first two rounds. So this mock definitely fits with their draft philosophy.

He has John Ross too high (#8) and Trubisky too low
Vanzetti : 3/15/2017 7:23 pm : link
but other than that, this is the most realistic draft I have seen
I like Boulware
uconngiant : 3/16/2017 1:19 am : link
But not until the 6-7th round area. I would hope for a corner or a cover linebacker
