The Giants could not have done that trade because they pick behind the Ravens in the 6th Round as opposed to the 49ers who have an earlier pick. For it to work for the Giants, we would have had to trade our 5th Round pick for Zuttah and the Ravens 6th Round pick
except that they control where he goes. I wonder what prompted that, he's young enough and he's inexpensive, even if they relegated him to backup duty that's not a bad salary for a guy who can fill in at two positions.
Do the GMs send a league wide memo informing teams that they would be willing to trade this guy if we can swap draft picks? If so, do you feel the Gmen would have swapped their 5th for this guy? Or do you think the Gmen were unaware of his even being released?

From talking to Ravens fans they say it's because he's more suited for a zone blocking scheme and they're moving away from that.
The first reports were that he had been released outright. Hearing that, and with a need for an experienced Center, John Lynch of the 49ers contacted Ozzie Newsome and got him to hold off on submitting the final release paperwork to the league. He offered a swap of six round picks and Ozzie accepted.
Hahhahaa!
