But he was third banana his whole career to various combinations of Trimble, Dez Wells, Robert Carter, Diamond Stone, and Self Allen.
Layman was a matchup nightmare at the 4, but he had to play at the 3 because of the Stone/Carter deal. When Layman was the focus on offense at the elbow in, the team did really well.
On Jan 1, Nebraska beat Md primarily by using a 1-3-1 zone at the end of the game that completely flummoxed them. Yesterday was March 16, meaning they had 2-1/2 months to work on attacking that zone. Anyone with a little bit of knowledge knew that Xavier was going to zone the Terps. Looked to me like they got worse against a zone over those 2-1/2 months not better. Who's fault is that? That's the kind of stuff that drives me crazy.
Not saying I've given up on Turge, but I have to see some improvement with him, too, as well as the players.
awful at the start, superb in the middle of the game running Huerter to the high post and firing the dump down pass and then awful the last 15 minutes. Bottom line is 7-26 from 3 will destroy any chance you have against a zone.

I actually have to defend turgeon in one aspect, when Xavier made their run in the second half, the Terps missed 3 straight layups against the zone and Melo turned it over twice. That was the game. Turgeon can't actually put the ball in the hole

Turgeon isn't developing the top recruits he gets. But no Turgeon recruit has gotten all that much better with professional training/coaching.
Yes, so if he can't recruit top talent or coach up mid-level talent, then what is he good for other than running a clean program and being a nice guy?
Fair enough. When would be the earliest Maryland would even think about canning him though?
They can't, our idiot AD gave him an extension, would cost a pretty penny to get out of it.
