A win and a measure of pride salvaged last game with a nice come from behind OT victory after a forgettable result the prior game. Home again, with a need to win.
Greiss in net. Same D. Beau sits out tonight and Nelson returns in his place.
So, Isles need to jump on the gas with the Jets. Their goaltending is...not solid. And it'd be wise to get them in the sin bin. WPG is 7-for-13 (53.8%) on the penalty kill in their last three games. Who knows, maybe that's the tonic to fix our PP.
Don't know why, but I'm feeling Lee and Leddy tonight. All good thoughts anyway after hearing Temples of Syrinx earlier.
Let's Go Islanders
I like it.

Isles, wake the fuck up. The Jets are toast, goaltending sucks, and we have nothng to show on 2 PPs against a horrible PK.
Good hustle at the end, but it feels like the puck is finding a way to stay out.
Are you up for winning Honky tonight?
4 goals on 18 shots. JFC.
Not making the playoffs is going to be awful, but it is probably best in the long-term.
First and foremost, Snow will finally be gone and added to the erstwhile list of failed Isles GMs. A team president, with hockey smarts will be hired.
The only person who should be brought back is Weight. He proved to be more than just a product of the Maine mafia. He knows the game, and understands the players. He could be elevated to GM, and be a good recruiter. Coaching doesn't seem to be his passion.
I would think long and hard about hiring Kevin Dineen as coach. He must have learned a few things from being Joel Q's assistant.
Greiss needs to be better (yet again). My main takeaway from this game and the season as a whole is our forwards are absolutely dreadful in the defensive zone. It's going to be our downfall, which is ironic since last year the way everyone bottled up in front of the net was maybe our best asset as a team.
As long as they neuter him a bit and hire a competent President/Dir. of Hockey Ops, so be it if they keep him around.
My next 24 hours comment was more related to the possibility of Halak being called up ahead of the CBJ game.
There's no doubt he's wearing down, IMO. The signs you see of a goalie losing his edge usually isn't found in the big saves. I don't think Greiss is wearing down in that sense where his body doesn't react to the puck as quickly. He has a great glove and he's quick for a big guy, and I don't think that's going anywhere.
It's the shots that surprise him, or the quick wristers from the the slot where there's no traffic and a tough angle and still finding twine. He's not saving those anymore. To me, that's a lack of concentration, and I think that's the type of wearing down you see in today's netminders. It's more mental than anything else.
That number speaks for itself. It's time for Halak.
