NFT: Kaprielian looks very sharp in first outing

Almost every single one - the trade pick-ups and the ones already in-house - has delivered on the hype and more.

Kaprielian looks like the real deal if he can keep his arm in one piece.

Looks like Frazier hit a dong as well.

Russell Martin looking as well. I havent seen it yet but assume that Martin thought it was a ball...

I almost wish that the team wasn't so successful now. Too many of us will be disappointed if it doesn't continue after ST.

I actually think the prospects are one of the reasons the team is doing well - our 2nd stringers are far superior to the rest of the league's 2nd stringers. When you throw out Frazier, Torres, McKinney, Fowler, Wade, Mateo, Severino, Mitchell, Green and Cessa, etc.

If both Kaprielian and Chance Adams work out, the rotation might be contention-worthy by the second half of the season.

Haven't really followed this spring too closely, how has Jordan Montgomery look?

Many of the kids need at least a half a year to a full year of development before they are ready for a full-time role in the bigs. Some will need 2 years.

The goal is NOT to get them to the bigs ASAP- you just waste service time before FA doing that. You want to get them to the bigs when they are ready to produce to the best of their abilities.

Sure, the Yanks COULD put Torres out there in April- but he would almost certainly struggle, develop bad habits to attempt to overcome the struggles, and like have issues affect his defense. His day is coming soon- it just isn't now.

Furthermore, the Yanks need the 2017 season to clear a lot of the remaining bad contracts off the roster. CC, Pineda, Clippard and Holliday are all FA at the end of the season. It will be easier to trade Gardner and Headley at the trade deadline when they only have one season a month or two of this one left. That, in turn, will open up more spots and opportunities.

Keep in mind however that not all of these players will succeed- some will simply prove to be AAAA guys. Others will not be more than replacement level guys. On the other hand, others will step in and be better than the guys they replaced- and several have the upside to be true consistent All Stars.

The key is patience.
