This isn't Madden. Other teams with needs have the ability to sign players. Giants do not have first rights.
They have a premiere DL in the game and they kept him. The OL market was very weak. It does NOT make sense to weaken your DL to add an average or below average OL. Then you have downgraded your D for no reason.

See how long that top 5 defense lasts making moves like that.

We won a 2 Superbowl with a Lines Accorsi built. 1/2 a line the 2nd Superbowl. To waste a talented QB like Eli by not building him a great offensive line is criminal.
Reese proves he can not draft Oline talent so go out and get the young stars that they did last year on defense. Reiff would have been that and you don't have to Worry about the leftside for years when you resign Pugh.

So for 3 games our D looked good w/o our most disruptive player and that justifies letting him walk? And those three games came against a Detroit offense that was average or slightly above average with zero running game, a Washington offense that was highly overrated and a Dallas offense that was one dimensional and that our D line was constructed to defeat.
Your solution is to replace a player that coaches have to game plan their play calls away from and many times double with a RT who will most likely just be adequate and a solid DE/LB hybrid who is easily neutralized by a good blocking TE. If you had made the argument to make a run at Barwin alone (prior to seeing what he wound up costing), I would have agreed. Your idea of replacing JPP, who signed a fair market deal based on his position and ability with two middle of the road to above average players who were grossly overpaid is just like the rest of your ideas. This isn't Madden. Other teams with needs have the ability to sign players. Giants do not have first rights.
They have a premiere DL in the game and they kept him. The OL market was very weak. It does NOT make sense to weaken your DL to add an average or below average OL. Then you have downgraded your D for no reason.

See, even if you're not a dupe you're clueless. You're trading JPP for Riley Reiff and Barwin (who cost a combined $17M for this season). One average lineman and a mediocre DE for a top 5 DE.
See how long that top 5 defense lasts making moves like that.
Then, you have Flowers moving over to the right side, where he's had zero snaps, a sure fire recipe for improvement.
You start dumping bodies left and right, and your very simplistic answer is 'in the draft'. Oh yeah, DT in the draft. CB in the draft. TE in the draft. Will Tye? Sayonara. We'll be sure to find a replacement in the draft, along with the other 11 positions on the list.

Well its an opinion and I believe you in today's NFL you build a good line you win.
We won a 2 Superbowl with a Lines Accorsi built. 1/2 a line the 2nd Superbowl. To waste a talented QB like Eli by not building him a great offensive line is criminal.
Reese proves he can not draft Oline talent so go out and get the young stars that they did last year on defense. Reiff would have been that and you don't have to Worry about the leftside for years when you resign Pugh.

So for 3 games our D looked good w/o our most disruptive player and that justifies letting him walk? And those three games came against a Detroit offense that was average or slightly above average with zero running game, a Washington offense that was highly overrated and a Dallas offense that was one dimensional and that our D line was constructed to defeat.
Your solution is to replace a player that coaches have to game plan their play calls away from and many times double with a RT who will most likely just be adequate and a solid DE/LB hybrid who is easily neutralized by a good blocking TE. If you had made the argument to make a run at Barwin alone (prior to seeing what he wound up costing), I would have agreed. Your idea of replacing JPP, who signed a fair market deal based on his position and ability with two middle of the road to above average players who were grossly overpaid is just like the rest of your ideas.
