Karlos Williams? (just something to discuss on a Friday)

Pete from Woodstock : 3/17/2017 8:14 am
What ever happened to this guy? He was a MONSTER in Buffalo. I know he was suspended for 10 games for violating the NFL substance abuse policy. But man, if he got his shit together he would be a steal for the Giants as a FA. Still only 23 years old. In 2015 he had a 5.6 yard rushing average in 11 games with 7 TD's and 2 receiving. The guy is 6'1" 230lbs! BEAST

He'd be nice teamed up with Perkins for cheap

From wiki-
On October 11, 2016, Williams was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad. On November 23, 2016, Williams was suspended 10 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers on January 24, 2017 after his suspension was lifted. He was released by the Steelers on March 9, 2017

Too many teams thought he wasn't sharp enough to pick up

Literally, ate himself out of the league

In one offseason.

The Steelers picked him up after Buffalo cut him for weight issues (which led to him getting passed on the depth chart). Then he got a ten game ban for his 2nd substance abuse violation.

Would not kick these tires.
I thought I heard somewhere

Or maybe Ricky Williams 2.0

Slow learner (busted twice) and likes to eat donuts by the box
he screwed himself out of millions

can't stay in shape and another substance abuse violation is what, a full season ban? No one wants him, nor should they. That's a valuable roster spot given to someone who hasn't earned it.
Good post/suggestion

Would def be interesting and worth looking into as a cheap flyer
Only 23 years old.

If he were to get his act together, obviously it would be worth the gamble.

At another position, maybe - but at RB?

money isn't the only thing that's scarce. He'd come cheap, but roster spots are hard to come by. With the number of talented, young RBs that are going to be available, I'd rather not gamble a roster spot on a guy who's had suspension issues and has a hard time making weight.
Do we even know why the suspension was lifted?

Sounds like he's been a dumb, naive kid. And the smart money, without having any inside knowledge of the situation - is that he is still dumb and naive. He was on the same team as his brother and still couldn't make the smart decisions.

But if there's a feeling among those that have spoken with him that he's matured, I'd absolutely give him a chance to compete in camp. He didn't play a down last season and just came off someones practice squad. Whats he going to command in terms of money...like $600,000? He'd still have to earn his spot like everyone else. I'll take a 23 year old bruising TD machine playing for peanuts if I can.

If he gets into trouble during the season, cut him and bring in some fringe back to take his place...which is likely who you'd have anyway to begin with.
