Cap - Do we need to still cut or restructure anyone?

Joey from GlenCove : 3/17/2017 1:29 pm
Total Cap Liabilities: $171,944,480 (Top 51: $165,674,480)
Cap Space: $3,282,766

This doesn't include geno and johnson. I assume JPP's cap hit will be the same. 16.94MM

We need nearly 5MM to sign rookies. Leaving us less than a million. What else do we need?

Are we cutting harris ($2,400,000 dead money) or thomas($1,000,000 dead money)? Who are the giants going to restructure?

I think JT Thomas is as good as gone,

but they hope he passes a physical first so they can save a few more dollars.

^This.

I can see them trying to work out a restructure (with slight overall pay cut) with Harris too, since from 'leaks' it seems they don't think he's worth his remaining deal. But that may or may not be necessary depending on the rest of their FA plans. I doubt they're raising their offer to Hankins significantly at this point.
I would assume JPP will save us

8-10 mil on this years cap. The Giants still have the same options as before if they choose to restructure someone like Jenkins, Harrison, Vernon.
8-10 million? That's aggressive.
Keith : 3/17/2017 1:49 pm : link
If he signed the same deal as Vernon, it would be about 4-5 million saved. If the rumors of a 4 year deal are correct, it's going to be less and if the rumors of the dollars are correct, it will be even less.
I agree with those who think that Thomas is gone, and believe

that Harris is also gone unless he renegotiates downward.

But if they need more money they can certainly restructure any of the guys from last year's FA haul.
The Giants can also extend Pugh
Jay on the Island : 3/17/2017 2:00 pm : link
and lower his cap figure.

sign a FA Kicker and maybe a LB.

We will prob draft a couple of OL, TE, LB, and a RB
JPP cap hit will not be the same as it was w/ the FT
BillT : 3/17/2017 2:35 pm : link
Vernon's 1st year cap hit was $13m. JPP's won't be more than that so you can expect a $4m cap savings at the least. Could be 1m or 2m more.

Yeah but Vernon's deal was spread over 5 years. If JPP's is a 4 year deal, it will most likely be a higher first year cap hit than Vernon.
