NFT: Stern Fans - Artie arrested for coke and heroin

Bchurch : 3/17/2017 3:01 pm
Can't say i'm surprised... I'm more surprised at how this guy is still alive...

Quote:
Comedian Artie Lange was recently arrested on charges of drug possession outside his Hoboken home, reports the Hudson Reporter.

Lange, 49, who has a history of drug addiction and was recently featured on the new HBO series "Crashing," was reportedly arrested on Sunday after allegedly being found with drugs in the parking garage of his building at 14th Street and Shipyard Lane.

Police said officers found cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia in Lange's possession, both on him and in his car. They had been responding to a report of someone trying to enter a parked car in the garage when an officer saw what he thought was drugs inside the car. Lange allegedly told police it was his car. Police said that after searching Lange, they found several bags of what appeared to be heroin and cocaine.

The former "Howard Stern Show" sidekick was released on a summons and is due to appear in court.

Artie Lange arrested on drug charges in Hoboken, report says - ( New Window )
He

looks horrendous on "Crashing" (he's good on the show though). Sadly I don't think this ends well.
there's a big surprise
Greg from LI : 3/17/2017 3:06 pm : link
If going sober didn't take for him the first 19 times he tried, I don't think it's in the cards for him.
He's insane
adamg : 3/17/2017 3:07 pm : link
Can't learn from his repeated mistakes. Too bad. He's a great entertainer. Wish he could pull himself together, but it seems pathological at this point.
Some might classify that

as an addiction.
He was on The Joe Rohan Experience Podcast a while back

And he looked and sounded absolutely horrible

he's made it to 49.
Not exactly shocking.

Artie is an addict and that's never going to change. I've met him in person and he's a nice guy. I hope he can get help.
20+ years of heroin and/or cocaine addition for a 300lb man
Bchurch : 3/17/2017 3:11 pm : link
might go down as a world record for drug addicts.

It's sad, I love Art but like others said I can't see how he will ever get clean. He needs some chick to abduct him and force him to get clean like what happened with Darryl Strawberry.
Honestly, look what years of addiction and bad health did for Jerry
Bold Ruler : Mod : 3/17/2017 3:13 pm : link
Garcia. He died of a heart attack at 54. Even if Artie avoids an OD, his body is going to give out on him. It's a shame.
Also as if a coke or heroin addiction weren't bad enough
DennyInDenville : 3/17/2017 3:22 pm : link
Mixing the two is even worse then drinking red bulls with vodka daily
I thought they were giving away tickets......
BillKo : 3/17/2017 3:24 pm : link
on WABC this afternoon for his upcoming show?

He seemed like he was doing well when he had that satellite radio show or podcast that was on that directv network thing. Been a couple years now since that was canceled though.
It's Amazing He's Lived this Long
Suburbanites : 3/17/2017 3:55 pm : link
I can't see him reaching 50 and that requires him to only live another 7 months. Seriously, this guy has been a Chris Farley like mess for so many years. His drug abuse is so apparent it defines him, on top of that he's morbidly obese and has serious mental issues, remember he already attempted suicide and was damn near successful. Many will criticize his friends and family for "not getting him help." But it's not that easy, when you have someone who's so incredibly messed up short of holding him at gunpoint there's just so much you can do. He's also an adult who has basic rights so you can't make him do things against his will. About all anyone can do is pray that he miraculously turns his life around but the odds are very long.
Wow
Mike in Long Beach : 3/17/2017 3:59 pm : link
He had FINALLY found success again with Crashing.

Wow.
Was he supposed to be in more episodes of Crashing
pjcas18 : 3/17/2017 4:02 pm : link
I thought he was great in that one episode. I think it was just 1. TJ Miller was great too.

He's terribly unfunny.
My sister was friends with him...
EricJ : 3/17/2017 4:15 pm : link
she used to be in the business. A long time ago (back when Howard first went to Sirius), she and I were in a starbucks in Hoboken. Must have been about 10am. Artie comes walking in with his bathrobe and slippers on. Walks over to chat for a while. Looked like he just woke up from a two week hangover. He did not even brush his hair. It was as if the Starbucks was his kitchen and nobody else was in there.

He was perfect for what he was doing at Stern, so I disagree with you somewhat. But I probably do mostly agree as he never did anything else I enjoyed. A one-trick pony if there ever was one.
Not shocking if they were watching him

I think it's a matter of time before this story is not...

about him being busted, but about him being found dead in a motel room. He needs help, obviously.o

He was perfect as the junkie Howard could exploit for laughs. Otherwise he is a bore. Listen to him when he was at his "best" on Stern - interrupting with the same jokes, half of which were ignored. Jokes including Jeter, fungo bats, etc are not funny. He was perfect for Stern - another flunky Howard used until he did not need him anymore. Until Howard became Dick Cavett, the show was built on the talents and balls of almost everyone but Howard. Howard wisely rode Jackie, Billy West, the wack packers, the staff junkie, the song paradoy guys, the mess that was KC, the ballsy Sal/Richard/Studdering John to a fortune and then discarded most of them along the way. Every time the play old stuff I realize how little Howard really ever contributed to anything funny unless doing his parents impression every other week is funny.

You obviously have an axe to grind with Howard. If you really believe that Howard never had anything significant to do with the comedy on his show, you're nuts.
Artie's five-second cameo on Louie cracked me up.

So unexpected. From out of nowhere. Hilarious.

Anyone else remember it?
Artie just can't escape his demons

I feel bad for him.
Very sad

But also as shocking as spotting Rosie Odonnel at a Golden Corral.

Hopefully he doesn't give up. If Keef cleaned up from the junk in the 70s, anyone can.
