JPP Cap Number

djstat : 3/17/2017 7:52 pm
Not reporting this as fact but based on what I read and connecting some dots. If already reported and I am wrong I will deleted.

Apparently he gets $22.5 million year one.

$20 Million signing bonus prorated over four years - $5 Million

$2.5 Million salary Guaranteed

2017 Cap Charge $7.5 Million

Saves $9 Million off this years Cap
That makes perfect sense
jlukes : 3/17/2017 7:55 pm : link
And is pretty much exactly what many assumed (5 million from the signing bonus and a salary of between 2 or 2 million)
If you aren't reporting it as fact then why post it?

Your thread title makes it sound like you have JPP's cap number. A simple question mark would make a world of difference.

JPP's Cap Number?
.
jlukes : 3/17/2017 7:57 pm : link
Vernon's 1st year salary was $1.75 million
jlukes : 2:49 pm : link : reply
so I'd expect JPP's to be right around $2 million.

Meaning we likely just freed up $10 million in cap space ($17MM franchise tag hit - ($5mm signing bonus + $2mm salary)

No. Not at all. This has been discussed ad nauseum. Where are these numbers coming from? Are they opinions? Are they numbers that were actually reported? Can we trust the numbers if they were reported since the first report about his contract was way off.

I am just curious as to the reason for posting this since it doesn't seem to be anything new that hasn't been discussed already.

He did a good job of qualifying. The comment reflects of the author and demands adjectives: Nitpicking, nasty, attention seeking come to mind. Why, Because a man, in Robbie's opinion, left out a queston mark..."would make a world of difference" no it wouldn't, that's just being an attention seeking jerk.

JPP's Cap Number?
. Cause it is a message board and not grade school. Since the post clearly clarifies it why do you care?
Then my bad.

Pro Footballs Talk reported $22.5 million year 1. Happy Robby?

I don't know that Hankins
Cenotaph : 3/17/2017 8:16 pm : link
is the best use of the cap space they have, especially on a large, long term deal like the rest of the DL. No that he isn't worth it, he's a very solid young player who is good at stuffing the run and can get a little push against pass. I'd take him if we can get like a 1-year type deal, but we're going to need space to sign OBJ, Collins & Pugh to name a few. I'd rather not lose any of those guys for Hankins. We have enough invested on the DL, and are locked into those guys for several years already, we just can't afford a fourth DL. Plus we should be able to plug a decently talented DT in with these guys and get solid results
...

am I the only person who doesn't think Hankins warrants anything close to what he's asking for? I know he's "our guy" and boo hoo we let griffin/cofield/joseph leave, but he's not worth 8-10 million a year playing out of position as a 3T - especially when he's the 4th best DL on the team.

Peterson or Hankins

I'd go $5 to $6 per.. $15-18 guaranteed

100%. Needs to be a 1 year deal, and I'm fairly certain it will be seeing recent deals, and the inactivity.

I keep seeing people say we shouldn't resign him to use the $ elsewhere, if it's a 1 year deal I absolutely think they should re-sign him, as there isn't anyone else to spend the $ on. And the $ will be off the books next year. Then look to draft to add RB and other spots.

annexOPR : 3/17/2017 9:10 pm : link
absolutely

I like Hankins, but he is by no means worth breaking the bank for. A lot of teams would kill for the Giants JPP/Vernon/Snacks trio.

Apparently some teams around the league don't view him as a "playmaker", hence why he is still on the market and unlikely to hit a big FA deal.
Unless Hank
Beer Man : 3/17/2017 9:59 pm : link
is willing to take significantly less than what he can get from other teams, he won't be back. Between JPP, Snacks, and Vernon the team already has a disproportional amount of the salary cap tied up in the D-line. Smart money says to find a less expensive option through the draft.
With all this talent where was the pass rush
xman : 3/17/2017 10:27 pm : link
for most of the season? Not close to the pressure that Osi Strahan and Tuck brought
Last year's pass rush from the defensive line was like this.
SB 42 and 46 and ? : 3/18/2017 1:44 am : link
First 7 games of the season (ending with LA in London)

4.0 Total Sacks
JPP - 1.5 VD - 1 DH - 0.5 JH - 1

Next 5 games from Eagles to Steelers

14.5 Total Sacks
JPP - 5.5 VD - 7 DH - 0.5 JH - 1.5

Last 5 games ending with Packers No JPP

Total 2.5
VD - 0.5 DH - 1 JH - 1

Would like to think that after line got acquainted they turned on the heat in games 8-12 and if JPP hadn't been injured the sacks for the last 5 games would have been a lot better.
