Does this provide any indication that they have hopes of Geno being their Project QB? He's young...has physical tools. I believe it's a great place for him to work off all the tarnish around him.
And unprofessional attitudde were his undoing not the Jets. He has the requiste skills to play. Sometimes a guy is cut gets another chance. Realizes it may be his last chance andd takea the proper attitude and becomes a professional. We will see...a good risk Imo.
Geno reminds me a lot of Charlie Batch with a stronger arm. You can see the talent when Geno plays and you will marvel at the games on film that he has dominated, but when he struggles, Geno really struggles and never seems to be able to get himself back on track until the game is out of reach. He struggles to go quickly to his check downs because he seems to be looking for the big play on every play. This is because he struggles to read defenses. He is not accurate when throwing to his check downs because he knows in most cases he is too late. If Geno is drafted too high and is not allowed to sit and learn and mature, I'm not sure his excellent work ethic will be enough to overcome the pressure of carrying a team as a starting quarterback in the NFL. Geno can be an excellent back-up quarterback with the potential to win 2 out of 4 games when your starting QB is out. In the future, he has the potential to be a starting QB in the right system for the team that drafts him. I think teams with a transient coaching situation would be taking a big chance drafting Geno as a future franchise QB. Teams that have a solid coaching staff and do not need to put Geno on the field right away would be a better fit for Geno to give him a better chance at a longer career....In short, he is a senior who is not ready for the NFL, but does have a bright future there.

Does it make sense to keep Johnson and Geno for this year only to lose Geno next year? I know that it is hard to give him much money longer term due to his past but unless Geno really understands that this may his last and best chance it seems weird. Do we see how he acts in the early part of the year and extend the contract later? Is he really going to be better than Josh Johnson coming off an injury and not knowing the offense this year?
I like this better than keeping Nassib and Johnson last year but I really wonder if this (3 QB's) the best use of resources. Full acknowledgment that they may not keep all 3.

He can learn a lot from Eli and this offense will al add on give him an opportunity to excel as he will be forced to get the ball out quicker too.

As for these 1-year, Walter Alston-like contracts, they are a sign of Reeee's bi-polar manner of roster formation. The one-year deals are pick up games in the park, choosing teams by once/twice/thrice-shoot! He will have 3 starting members of his o-line on 1-year deals. Almost certainly 2 will not return in '18. Do you realize how difficult it is finding 2 or three starters for the o-line in one off-season? Most big guys are slobs. Teams generally don't let the good ones get away. And it is the unit on a team that most requires continuity .
They should get Robinson back immediately. He was integral in what they did last season. They don't have a replacement on the roster. Goodson, Casillas and Kennard are different types of players. So although I hate weakening the d-line , I can understand that Hankins is pricing himself out of their market . But get Robinson back in the fold.
I don't know how the Giants feel about Robinson, but for me the question revolves around his durability. Did we just luck out last year when he played in all 16 games or are his injury woes truly a thing of the past? Honestly, I don't know that, either. I don't think anyone can say for sure one way or the other.
If the Giants want to take a chance on him long-term, so be it, but I'd also like to see them address OLB in the draft, where they should have opportunity to draft his successor if they choose to go that route.

This, +1. This will not be our "future Eli". When our "future Eli" comes you will know it, either via a high draft pick or some major trade/FA pickup. What is happening now is we are compiling low paid, budget backups just to play out the season in case Eli goes down.
When he has to go to his 2nd and 3rd reads, he really struggles. That is a hard thing to fix. Not saying it can't happen, but it's a lot to wish for. If the "project" is to make him a serviceable backup, sure, but a quality starter? I'm very skeptical.
