I don't know what the point of that episode was. Eugene was depicted horribly on the show, and now we basically have one great fighter that they could use, basically sacrifice herself.
Nice montage of the villagers learning to knifefight because that will be an effective strategy against the heavily armed saviours.
I'm reasonably sure that waving your knife slowly around in a circle is not an effective preparation for a battle royale.
Then, rather than scavenge for knives they decide to build a forge and make them because that's an easy task. Also, while we're at it, lets make a trident and some spears! That will be effective.
Now let's sneak off and snipe Negan BUT let's set up on a set of rickety steps which give no support and lean our gun way out the window so anybody across the way could spot it.
Eugene BTW may be planning a sabotage while hiding in plain sight or he may be enjoying his newfound safety and power. The writers are actually doing OK with him.
Boy do I hate myself for watching this show, especially after watching homeland.
well Abraham's mistress died in the comics, so lets kill her off.
While in the comics she gets bit by a walker, and I can't remember just how (Abraham was killed by a walker while building a wall in Alexandria) it made more sense in the comic.
They literally probably just sit there and say she died in the comic, how should we kill her off. Then they just put together this shit. Could have just had her die in the war.
they killed off 2 useful people, in the last 2 weeks, for the war...last week's was especially dumb with The Kingdom people just standing and doing nothing While Morgan strangles one of their own to death with his bare hands.
the show desperately needs Eugene to be fully converted Â
Sasha and Rosita are doing as somehow brave or noble. There is a war coming and every capable fighter is needed. Instead these two have their pity party and go for vengence like angry 8 year olds. And even if it does succeed? Do they think who ever fills the leadership void of the saviors will not keep things going the way they are?
Lazy writing, as always. More people doing irrational things for the sake of a story.
has gotten to the point where its become so tediously painful to watch. Again, I think the writers are very impressed with themselves.
Assuming they go to war with Negan and his people and win, what do the Alexandrians, the Hilltop, the kingdom and the Heepsters do in the aftermmath. Do they create some kind of Nuremburg inquiry? How do they deal with people who submitted to Neegan out of fear and how do they deal with people who gave in for the sake of personal enrichment? People in the communities are certainly going to want some sense of vengeance.
i already know the how the season finale goes... Â

The plan is solid, but needs to be coordinated with the others. Cut off the head, and the beast will die before even one person is unnecessarily killed. If someone else steps up to be the new Negan, then go to war. And that's only if the oppressed people in the Savior's camp don't rise up or defect.
honestly for the series finale, i wish it ended like the below Â
Enid and Carl leave a battle torn area with judith. They reach a point where america is actually surviving. The area that they were in was overrun with walkers and it was just a land forgotten. almost ala I am Legend
Sasha and Rosita have a great spot picked out to kill Negan with the rifle and then abandon it because they overhear Eugene order saviors to go looking in those buildings for more walkers. So instead of waiting it out and coming back after the search is over in order to get a clear easy shot at killing Negan Sasha decides to just run into the savior complex with no plan and no chance of actually making it to Negan. Then when she inevitably fails Negan will arrive at Alexandria to kill several members of the community as punishment for Sasha's actions which they will not be prepared for.
Wasn't the plan to unite the tribes against Negan? Â
Sasha and Rosita's plan to take out Negan is incredibly selfish and stupid. Better to lull Negan into a false sense of security and then pounce all at once. An attempt on his life would raise security and put Negan on the offensive making him a harder target and a more dangerous opponent.

Pretty cool concept...that all of this was happening in a very limited area of the country, and somehow the rest of the US rocking right along. Kinda like the kids on the island in Lord of the Flies.

Well with Fear the Walking Dead (Which is supposed to show the beginning of the zombie apocalypse) being in LA, kind of crushes that theory.
I still like it. I will always question the direction of the story... Â
... has it jumped the shark? Yeah. And I think at this point FTWD is a better show. But I still enjoy it enough to keep watching it at this point.
I can't get over that the main character in FTWD is worse than the one in TWD. Just so boring...but maybe that's just me
It's funny I thought it was really boring initially, but after they got onto the boat I really started to like the story lines. The mom is definitely annoying but I like the rest of the characters.
it has a chance to be a decent show, but they have to get rid of the mom. Uninteresting character who is portrayed very poorly. It's like they tried to offset Andrew Lincoln's melodramatic overacting with her overly flat delivery of everything.
My thought also, but my DVR stopped recording at that moment so I thought they may have shown who it was. I think Daryl was too far away to get there so quickly, that's why I'm thinking it's Dwight.
Or maybe all along, and it's finally wearing on me is the forced and repetitive dialogue. This shit every episode with various stats waxing on and on and on and on about their moral compass being out of wack or how they want to live or not live or fight or not fight or kill or not kill is so fucking old. We get it. You're conflicted and miserable we've been watching this fucking same conversation for 8 years now.
The show is almost too character driven or too up close and personal. Pull back a bit. Show us more of the world and less of any particular character's nose hairs. Please.
I'm definitely losing interest. The story drags every episode and it didn't have to be that way.
They have so many communities now and potential story lines, I don't see why they don't spend 15 min or so on each group every episode. Get the audience invested in the different communities. Don't spend 60 minutes on some manufactured drama between 2 or 3 characters.
They had decided this season would be NEGAN and then immediately neutered the entire season after the backlash. It's been absolutely brutal to sit through.
The comics are suffering from much of the same in my view - too many characters and not enough pages to develop them. I'd rather Kirkman chooses a medium where he can actually tell the story he seems to want to tell because comics/tv really aren't doing it for me.
Homeland and Billions on Sunday night are certainly not making it easy to sit through this either.
i'd be more interested if they eliminated 2 of those 10 minute scenes of bullshit dialogue and replaced them with scenes of just following a walker around the landscape. Nothing special. Just track a stupid fucking walker for 10 minutes and shut the fuck up for once.
I now hate every living character on the show. Neegan? He's a turd with that smile and long winded sarcastic tone of his. Everything is dark and scary ooohhh but he smiles...yea we get he's a sociopath. No need to ram it down our throats every other episode.
Pull the camera back. less meaningless talk. Talk about something else! Anything else! Shit, talk about foot. I don't care. Just no more moral and agonizing over how shitty everything is. Should call the show the walking whiners. Fuck off already.
what they miss from the old days. No mention of what life was like for some of these people. The only one we really know any history of is Carol's abuse at the hands of her now dead husband. We don't even know who neegan was! No. We just know everyone is conflicted. And sad. And afraid of losing people. Rinse. Repeat.
If you actually skip through the redundant conversations Â
why not show some back history on Neegan? or Daryl? Anyone? Is the budget that limited where they can't shoot any back story? I'd love to know how some of these people lived pre walker. 5 min here 5 min there...nothing crazy...just a little filler.
the show could be so much better. It's like they give us a ton of gore some episodes and figure that's enough to satisfy everyone for the boring shit dialogue. And there's plenty of gore...not complaining about that at all.

They could have made the show the way Lost was with flashbacks, just less in-depth. But AMC is invested heavily in their sets and reusing them, so there's no chance this was/is ever happening.

I had the exact same thought. I hate all the characters now, but they should have thrown in some flashback episodes to see what everyone was like before. Anything but this.
And to think, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has like a 3 year contract or something so we have plenty of time for nothing to happen. And now only two episodes left so the inevitable fight won't even begin until next year.
I'd be interested in some flashbacks to the main characters, who they were before the apocalypse and also how they made it through the initial events and made it to the groups they are in now. They did some of that with Morgan, and although I find the whole Aikido or whatever it is kind of ridiculous, I did enjoy that episode.
each new inmate got a 2-3 minute intro in a flashback for the crime they committed. Probably took next to no budget to product and gave you a feel for how the character would fit into the prison before he even got there.
Something like that can be replicated on TWD, 1 character per episode. It would atleast give us something to care about.

I figured. The show definitely reflects these limitations. Still, a little creativity can go a long way. Use some of the money on gore and effects elsewhere perhaps.
considering how lather, rinse and repeat this show is, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they do the governor thing all over again: showdown, takes off, and then returns for another showdown.
with the pacing of the show, I figured this was going to be a two season arc, but three is really, really stretching it for only one showdown.

then all of a sudden hilltop and the kingdom save the day..
saviors take on alot of loses and Negan gets captured

Yeah clearly they made it very ambiguous on purpose. My guess is it was Dwight.

Asprin..What a shitty episode
Quote:
What was in the giant crate the Saviors left at Hilltop when they took the doctor away? Looked like a year's supply of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.

That would work well here and save them a bunch of money, they could use "normal" sets.
Win win.
