3 ideal moves pre=draft

ny2plano : 3/20/2017 11:32 am
Resign Hankins, sign Blount, and trade round 2 draft pick for Thomas. Then draft BAP.
Swap Blount for AP

And it's good.
And re-sign Robinson

In a perfect scenario.
If we sign Blount and Hank, we won't be able to afford

Thomas or Robinson.
Draft a big back like Perine or Connor

Vereen is the veteran. We don't need AP and Blounts's baggages and cap room issues.
Well,

first, Hankins looks at what the other three starters are making, and I don't think you are going to get him cheap.....

Would love Blount, but I am sure the Pats have an offer on the table for him, and he was told to shop around....unless someone really beats the Patriot deal, why would he want to leave? And the Giants, are going to start to become a little more frugal with their cap now, so I don't see them offering the amount that Blount would be looking for.....

Everyone knows the Giants are hurting for an OLmen, and any trade, the Giants will have to pay through the nose.......The Browns will only trade him, if the offer is crazy good.

9M for a guy approaching 33? Pass.....
Aside from the first and third idea

that's not bad.

Hankins is too expensive for what he brings. And the Browns trading Thomas for a second is starting to take on the feel of the Saint's first rounder for Shockey, or stealing Cruz from the Jets. BBI is the only hole in the universe where that trade is ever happening.

I just sorta feel like courting Blount isn't even worth the effort...that no matter what happens, he'll wind up back in NE.
Not sure if trading a 2nd rd pick for Thomas is a good move
Sonic Youth : 3/20/2017 12:38 pm : link
He's 32 already. I'm afraid his play will drop off a cliff.

I WOULD give a 3 and a 6, or something along those lines.

IF Hank comes back, and we are somehow able to get Robinson + Blount, I'd consider trading a 2nd for Thomas and drafting a TE in Rd 1...but if not, you gotta go OL in rd 1 and TE in rd 2.

Honestly though, it's probably more about the player. I really hope we can get Howard, Ramcyzk, or Njoku at our spot in the first.

I'd personally much rather have Blount at his price than AP at an exorbitant price.
I know I am in the minority

But I would rather keep the 2nd round pick and draft an LT or RT with it then trade the pick for Thomas. Thomas is at an age where his performance could decline rapidly and his cap number is high.

How can you make that statement when you don't know what he'll cost. His supposedly outrageous demands are irrelevant - no one has met them.
Our last four NO.2 picks
grizz299 : 3/21/2017 5:34 am : link
Sterling Shepard
Landon Collins
Winston Richberg
Hankins...

They are cheap and should have young careers

Joe Thomas....expenseive and short career...

But Thomas might be much better next year and might contribute to a superbowl - something a rookie is unlikely to do.
Can't guarantee a superbowl...have to go with the cheap young talent.
