NFT: Philly Recommendations

Danny Kanell : 3/20/2017 2:44 pm
I'll be in Philly Wed-Thurs for work. Any food/beer recommendations within walking distance to the Convention Center? Looking for something more casual, will be a couple of clients for a few beers and food. Nothing too formal. Lunch ideas welcome too.

Thanks!
You're a block from Reading Terminal Market,

that should take care of lunch. It's an indoor farmers market with some great food stands, you can get anything from a gator po'boy to local fare like cheesesteaks.

Yeah, I went in there the last time and ate a sandwich from Dinics. It was great. The market is really cool too.

For dinner and a beer Rittenhouse has a lot of options.

I'm not a big Irish bar guy but The Black Sheep (on 17th near Locust) is a good one. One of my favorites is Good Dog (15th near Locust). Great menu, huge beer selection, kitchen is open late. Monks is a typical Belgian gastropub with a tome of a beer list. Take a quick cab to Front and Girard, stop by Frankford Hall for beer and pretzels, then go across the street to Johnny Brenda's and see some live music.

Steered me to the Good Dog awhile back. Wise man and a terrific choice.

I live around the corner from Johnny Brenda's. I highly recommend the Memphis Tap room if you end up coming this direction. They have some good food, and some great craft beers. Also Loco Pez is good Mexican food and its not to far away either.

And then Budakon again. Best good I've had.

Go to the franklin science museum if you can. Awesome.
If you're into Mexican food

you're a couple blocks away from El Vez and Lolita, which are both awesome.

The Terminal is obviously a given.

Frankford Hall and Bru are good German-style beer gardens. McGillin's is a timeless classic and worth checking out.

I like Pez but it can get crowded. Pure Vida is also pretty good and you don't have to deal with the crowds of hipsters. There's also a tiny whole in the wall spot behind Union Transfer called Jose's that's really good. It's always a good sign when you walk into an ethnic restaurant and people of that ethnicity make up the majority of the customers.
go home philly sucks,
