@AdamSchefter

Until Josh McCown signed his one-year, $6M deal with Jets, former Bears QB Jay Cutler was scheduled to visit team this week, per source.

Any guesses where Cutler's going?
Cutler?

No clue. San Francisco? Denver part 2?
They should just play Petty
PatersonPlank : 3/20/2017 8:23 pm : link
Its not like they are going to win next year anyway. Give the high draft pick a chance. The Jets gain nothing by playing has beens like Fitz and McCown.
Agree Plank
David in LA : 3/20/2017 8:27 pm : link
they should play Petty or Hackenberg and see what they got.
I'd turn the keys over the Hackenburg...
BurberryManning : 3/20/2017 8:27 pm : link
at least Christian brings youth, a pedigree, and a couple of years of collegiate success in a pro-style offense. Petty will already be 26 years old and has been extremely underwhelming in everything outside of a spread offense.
We are lucky to have Eli

Remember what it was like before Kerry Collins? Collins/Warner/Manning was the end of futility since the Simms Era ended.

It took us what, 8 or 9 years?

He's 2-20 over the last 2 or 3 seasons. Yikes.
Reese is shuch a dope. Only 6 million.
LauderdaleMatty : 3/20/2017 9:23 pm : link
Should have signed him. Yeah
I think the plan will be for Petty or Hackenberg to start,
Section331 : 3/20/2017 9:26 pm : link
but McCown isn't bad insurance if (when) they falter. I would have liked McCown as a backup to Eli, but not at $6 mill.
McCown has been said to be a nice tutor for young QBs...
BurberryManning : 3/20/2017 9:34 pm : link
and he's been on record stating that he'd like to transition to the coaching side of the game at some point. It should set up a decent situation in the QB room to have Josh mentoring the young guys while having no illusions of being the starting QB.
Another tough QB for the Pats to figure out
trueblueinpw : 3/20/2017 9:44 pm : link
I swear the AFC East is a freaking juggernaut of talent. If the great QB play doesn't get you then the terrific head coaching most certainly will; not a soft GM in the entire division. No easy games for Hoodie and Tom in this division.
Cutler
SLIM_ : 3/20/2017 9:51 pm : link
should end up with Houston for a moderate deal.
Figgy, I don't know why I forgot Houston
David in LA : 3/20/2017 9:54 pm : link
but that is a great destination for him. Not sure if he's a Bill O'Brien guy, but they have very good WR's that Cutler could take advantage much more than Osweiler.

Or tank a season to get a better pick, that might work for the fans . But,how does that play to most of the 50 players in the locker room for whom football is their livelihood? For them it's a job and who wants to go out there and not do their best and that includes playing the players who give the team the best chance of winning today. For the players,it's not a Madden or fantasy game. I think fans forget that

You know, a Cutler/Denver reunion makes some sense. Though Denver would probably prefer Romo.
Cutler is his own
Doomster : 3/20/2017 10:44 pm : link
worst enemy...when things are going well for him, he looks great.....but then he screws up, loses confidence, and then it's downhill....

With Denver's defense, he would not be forced to score that much....if he plays within himself, and doesn't try to force things, he might be a good fit for Denver.....but like I said, he's a head case....
The Jets absolutely, positively

DO NOT have a plan at quarterback.

A 2013 2nd-round pick is on another team
A 2015 4th-round pick seems to have been wasted, and a 2016 2nd-round pick apparently wasted so they can just journeyman their way through one year after another.

I do think most fans understand this dynamic and their response, respectfully, is "who cares?" The players are compensated to perform in whatever role the organization sets for them. Playing younger kids or managing the team in such as a way as to not maximizing their chances of victory does not preclude 50 guys from doing their best in their particular capacity. Players can control their play and the coaching staff and front office can execute their responsibilities, which includes organizational strategy.

When McCown suffers the inevitable concussion in game 3, Petty will have an opportunity for playing time.
