for a while that the FB position is going away but I disagree. I think its merging with the H Back/TE position but that there is a spectrum of capabilities between FB, H Back, and TE with Will Johnson closer to the classic FB position but he fills a void for the Giants at the FB end of that spectrum. I don't know about his health but if he can play I'd like to see him back. I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants think he owes them a year.

will play that role but there are also a handful of FBs coming out of college that could be a late pick or UDFA. A top UDFA FB could be easily persuaded to sign with the Giants bc they wouldn't be buried on the FB depth chart.

that he will use a FB (and they did use one when he was in GB IIRC). In general, they are on the way out in the NFL, but some teams still scheme with them (though even then, often the FB gets under 50% of snaps). I think we'll see one at times, though not so often that we need to invest much at the position. Probably see 3/4 wide or 2 TE sets more often than 2 back/RB & FB sets. I think they probably want Ellison on the line most often, but he'll be in the backfield at times.

Not expecting an add, but possible late in draft, or maybe more likely as UDFA. A pure FB wouldn't directly compete w/Ellison, but would probably take some of his snaps.

very often, if at all. I think they continue with mostly 11 personnel with 3 receivers, and occasionally going to 12 personnel. Im fine with that. It's a passing league, you want to have Beckham, Marshall, and Shepard on the field to make plays and make defenses respect that. The O line needs to be better to run the ball. Defenses dropped into cover 2 shell because they knew, even with 7 defenders in the box, the Giants weren't going to beat them running the ball. Dallas doesnt need a FB to run the ball. I dont expect the Giants O line to improve to the point where anyone compares them with Dallas' O line, but they need to get better, and they will be. When they can run at a decent clip, safeties will move closer to the LOS, and those 3 wides will have more space to run and make plays. BBI was all over Mac for using 11 personnel almost exclusively last season, but that was last season. I thought he should change up personnel packages every once in a while. They will run the ball better this season and the whole offense will be more productive because of it. I predict little to no complaining about Mac using 11 exclusively because it will be working.
